Mac, in regards to your taking away our fleet:
The Pirates all unanimously agree on our response: 
. There is no reason to take one of our fleets, other than to make it easier for the HC to destroy the Pirates. Send one of yours over for a 4-4-4-4 balance. All governments are created equal. There is still time to get more people anyway. Right now, I'm seeing if my girlfriend would be interested in joining. If you do decide to rip away one of our members we will be forcd to declare a Pirate holy war against the HC and to spare no one.

Well, It does make sense considering the fact that a Pirate faction would be smaller than a major Federation. As good as you say your ships are, I don't know why you need an equal balance.

Exactly. Besides, if it's split 3-5-5-3, if he ever sees more than 3 fleets on his side of the galaxy, that will be good for the Pirates, because it would mean they've broken up the first three. I really don't see what he's whining about.
Look at it from a purely military sense: The HC and Aliens have two fronts to fight on, while the Dreden and Pirates only have one. Thus, the HC and Aliens need more fleets. QED.
Also Jimbob, I do need one person from the Dreden too. Are you volunteering?

Following standard military tactics (ie being smart) the Aliens and HC would only have to fight a one front war. But believe what you want. And what do you mean "they would have broken up the first three"?

i.e. if four fleets come to fight the pirates, that means you're running all over our (darn, can I be an emperor again? I want to say my ) space causing havoc, and the first three couldn't stop you. Thus, having to fight four fleets would be good for you.

Anyway, if we completely destroy 2 or 3 fleets would you consider giving us control of. say, half the galaxy for starters? We'll let you rebuild your fleets and a few pages later smash them all again. Then we'll smash Sol.

Homepage updated with some slight rules tweaks and the HC weapons yard. Highlights of the rules tweaking:
- Couple of changes to fleet movement that have been discussed
- Military outposts will become standardized by government, so each has one type. Should reduce possible arguments. I'm thinking along the lines of a 50,000,000 price range or so.
- Added clause about new tech
I think that's all this time.
Also, I can explain the differences in range and damage stars between cannon/turret weapons and projectile/homing weapons later, if anyone doesn't get the idea quickly. Don't have time now.
