I know that AU/h means the speed of a ship, but what are they initials for? And u is for fuel, shields, and charge... but what does it stand for?

Just curious.

Astronomical Units an hour. One AU is equal to 93 million miles, the average distance between the earth and the sun. And u probably just means unit.

AU/h would stand for "Astronomical Units per Hour" where an astronomical unit is the mean orbital separation between the earth and the sun.

This is a non-canonical term (it doesn't appear anywhere in the game itself) and is also flawed. An AU is approximatly eight light-minutes, which means that anything in excess of 7.5 AU/h is faster than the speed of light. Whatever units speed is measured in in EV/O, it's not AU/h. It's probably stupid to try and find an absolute measurement anyway, since the in-game speed is expressed as a multiple of pixels/second, and a pixel in EV/O has no particular length (it corresponds to less than a meter on a capitol warship, but over a hundred kilometers on a stellar object).

"u" stands for "unit", as in "unit of fuel" (where 100 units = 1 jump).

Well, it does only take a few seconds to traverse the distance between Earth and Mars...and as far as scale goes, it's not too fun trying to get millions of pixels wide planet sprites into EV.
