Whenever I launch my Mantas, they just follow me. Fighters have never helped. Hired ones sometimes do. So do Mission Fighters. (Ones that help you in missions.)

Why is this? Does EV not like me and decides to suck?

Are you targeting other ships and sending your fighters after them? The Mantas will not usully automatically target other ships for me, I just target them manually, then hit the F key to send them to attack.

Yes, you must manually send your fighters after a specific ship. Target the ship you want to be attacked, and hit F, or whatever other key you have assigned.

The idea is that while you're paying your escorts to defend you, but leaving them to act on their own initiative, fighter pilots are part of your crew, so they take orders directly from you. Therefore, they only attack when you tell them to attack by selecting a target and pressing F.

OOOOOHHH! I didn't know you had to hi the F key! I thought I just had to target someone and they attack! And to think... I've been playing EV for over a year! (Not long, but you'd think I'd figur something like that out.)
