    • Skyblade, why can you not join IRC? Connection problems?

      Hey, I am trying to decide on the name for our plugin. Here are the current possibilities:

      1. Galactic Alliance
      2. Erion
      3. Erion: The Worlds Beyond
      4. Enter Erion

      I sort of like #3. I had thought we were going to use number 1, but it is a bit plain and unoriginal. What do you all think? I am also open to alternative suggestions.

    • I have a visbit question. My plugin will have 2 major mission strings, and each will open up the new galaxy. The problem is that I want different missions to be able to open the systems, IE several visbits. Like, if you fly for the alliance, certain alliance missions open it. If you fly for the pirates, certain missions open the same systems.

      So do I have to make duplicated of the systems I want to appear and give them seperate visbits?

    • If I remember right (which I may not) you can set a mission to activate more than one bit at a time. Fox ex. let's say you complete the Sensitive Alliance Mission. It activate bits 151 and 153. Or, if you complete the Sensitive Alien Mission, it sets bits 152 and 153. 151 opens the next Alliance mission, 152 opens the next Alien one and 153 opens the hidden system(s).

      That help?

      Errm... No. I need the same system to be able to be opened by two bits. I sort of worded it wrong in my previous message... But I need a missions for the pirates that opens the new systems, and a mission for the alliance that opens the same systems. Does that make sense?

    • Skyblade, can you make me target graphics? I have a bunch of ships from a shipyard that need new target graphics, some ships from magma (I got permission to use them) that need new target graphics, and the old EV ones are sort of lame. Do you think you could make me all new target graphics, or just make them all similar so it looks consistant?

      If you really need a system opened by two VisBits, then you'll have to duplicate everything, sorry. I really don't see why you'd need to do that over having different missions set the same bit to open the systems. Corey is right you can get two.

      And if you think you've got VisBit problems, you should look through the s˙st files of AI. Actually, you probably shouldn't, because it would probably destroy the mind of a newer developer, and probably a lot of experienced ones too. 😉 It's getting worse now that I'm moving beyond just adding systems at the beginning of the plug, not the game, and replacing them twice, now I have to line that up over the course of two separate storylines. Damn tricky business, but I haven't had to duplicate anything - yet.

      I'll admit to having wished mightily for a second VisBit field a few times. I also can't wait to try to get the system replacement lined up across four storylines in AI2. shudder

      That's why I'm putting off my plugin ideas until they release EV Nova.

      Yes, that works so long as you aren't just expanding on the original universe, not replacing it.

      I will probably make my own Nova version just for fun though. So many extra features that I'd like. 🆒 Don't know if I'd release it though, since that would almost amount to porting EV to Nova, which I'm not entirely comfortable with, even if it has been done before with EV to EVO.

      I don't think Ambrosia has any problem with porting the EV universe to Nova, and R&R;'s tools should make it pretty easy to do. I've actually got an idea for a fairly large followup to the original EV which I may sometime create under Nova - it would be far too much work under EV.

    • EVN will be a plug-in developers dream.

      Where did Skyblade go? He didn't post that graphic last night, and he usually does some posting in the morning.

      I am starting to lose interest in this plug-in. It is starting to look crappy, and the plot isn't that great. I'm losing the motivation and energy to keep working on it... It was sort of exciting when I first began, but now it is getting monotonous and frusterating.

      I've played Ares for years, so I've developed many tactics for use against not only the Ishiman, but the Cantharan and whoever else I tend to fight multiplayer. Against the Cantharan, all cruisers is usually a good idea. They eat those sluggish gunships and carriers. When fighting the Ishiman and Humans, I usually tend to build a few Gunships for support.

      About people warping around, that does get annoying. One guy tried that on me tonight, but I quickly destroyed two of his cruisers in the process by creating a thick laser screen in his path with my Ishiman Heavy Destroyer. That took care of things...

      Anyway, I didn't intend to turn this into an Ares discussion. 😛 Sorry about that...

      Skyblade, I don't play ares anymore... I always lost. It got boring after a while, and the people I played against on gameranger were... obnoxious.

      How is the updated Ramscoop coming, Skyblade? Once I have that, I think I'm finished with the human tech. Now I have to do the alien stuff. :rolleyes:

      I get the same deal with B.net. Everyone was making stupid jokes, and I said they were a little immature for that and left, then got /msg'd by one of the people with an insult. Needless to say, I squelched the little upstart

    • Due to several factors, including: 1) Lack of time 2) Lack of energy and 3) Incoming Relatives, I have not been able to, nor will I be able to for a few days, get much work done on the plugin. It is primarily because on #3. :rolleyes: stupid relatives.... 😛

      Skyblade, keep working on the graphics and posting them here. I will post here, as time permits, too.
