...a bit.

Just in case anyone's been watching, I haven't updated the site a lot for a while, partly because I haven't had a lot of time to, and partly because work hasn't been going as fast lately, for multiple reasons. It does seem to be picking up a bit again though. I'm hoping that I may be able to get to alpha status in a couple of weeks.

Anyway, things are still moving, and since I do seem to be getting a bit closer now, I just thought I'd let everyone know, and open up a dedicated topic for any commentary or anything, so hopefully I can control my EVula style impulses to hijack other people's topics to talk about this, as I've done a bit lately.

On a somewhat related note, I've been flying a Confed Cruiser again a bit lately to test the Confed string. twitch Out of curiosity, has anyone of the Rebel group here actually flown one lately? The reputation as a cow is completely undeserved and an insult to cows everywhere. The Cruiser does not maneuver like a cow in the slightest; it bears much more resemblance to an office block in that regard. I dare you all to fly it with no performance upgrades for a while and see what you think. It hurts. twitch

Yep, I sometimes try that string. One thing: the Frigate is better than the Cruiser in every respect. It has the same speed, but it turns a little better than an office block. And yes, the Cruiser's turning does hurt.

When I first flew a 'fed cruiser, I thought my game was screwed up because it was moving so slow. I'm going to make it have a speed of 600 and see what happens...

When, exactly, do you think the plug will be finished? No, I'm not impatient, I'd just like a wild guess.

It can turn? For some reason in EV on my Performa and iBook it doesn't ever turn. It turned when it was on the performa 450 though.

There is a fix available for that. See, when the speed in-game is set differently, the game adjusts the turning speeds of the ships to compensate. Unfortunately, this makes the Fed Cruiser go from almost no turning to no turning at all. This can happen other times too, like in your case, and I think there was a correction in the Galactic Scourge plugin.

Yup, or you can just increase the game speed to 100% in the preferences window. Set Prefs from the main screen, and the Set Game Speed button at the bottom. Setting to 100% there should correct the problem.

Luke, I really don't have a very good idea when it will be totally finished, but I'll take a stab at it anyway since I'm not under contract or anything and don't really have a reputation to protect. I'm guessing 2 weeks to alpha, 1-2 more weeks for alpha, and then however long it needs in beta to get the bugs worked out. Hopefully somewhere around the first of December it'll be done. And remember, that's a purely wild guess, like you asked for, and has nothing whatsoever to do with when the plug will actually be released.

Well, even though it may not look like it from the website, I'm making a lot of progress right now. I finally realized that the biggest time consuming thing left was writing misn descs, because since I have all the mission names laid out on paper and can reconstruct the whole thing from the name, making the mission itself is just punching in numbers. So, it finally occurred to me that I could write misn descs out on paper from the list of names. I'm now doing that in spare time away from my computer (like here, at school ), so once I start working again, the only job left will be data entry. A bit boring, but fast, and simple enough that it may actually help my focus. I find the mind tends to wander a bit when writing descs on my computer.

Now, if I had thought of this sooner... :mad:
