Elaborate on moral relativist.
One of my friends was told that if he knows he has to go to church, as required by his religion, and doesn't, then it is a sin. Basically, it means ignorance is not necessarily a sin, but negligence is. I was going on my own experince on saying I didn't believe I had to attend church.
I do not have a personal relationship with Him. I resent your remark about using God as a get out of jail free card, I am not trying to make it easier for myself to get into Heaven; I don't believe in that (Heaven). I do, however, believe that sometimes I need a spiritual pillar, someone of whom I can ask questions and get no response or reaction, but just feeling better that I told somebody.
By forcing, I mean trying to convert someone with the idea that they already do not want to be converted. This would also mean threatening bodly harm or worse if they do not change.
Maybe that is belittling the God you believe in, and flame me all you want for it, but this is the belief system I base my life in. That is something that has always frustrated me: the belief that your religion is the one true religion, and all others should convert. I think the world is great the way it is, with all these different ideas and philosophies and teachings. One could spend the rest of their life and get nowhere near to learning about all the different religions. I accept the fact that there is not, and never should be, any singularity on Earth when it comes to religion.
Really sorry I kind of flamed you. I'll try not to do it again.
A moral relitivist is someone who believs there is no such thing as right and wrong.
I believe that if you can go to a good church, then go. I also believe that if you try to go to church, but can't sometimes, that's okay too. And you say going to church is required by his religion? What religion is he? Most denominations of Christianity say it's a good idea to go to church, but they don't say it's a sin not to. One last thing on this subject. If the only church you have access to is a bad church which teaches things you know aren't true, then I think it's a better idea not to go than to go.
Sorry I said it like that. Your last post cleared this up for me. I thought you just talked to God so he could give you stuff. You actually talk to God, and not just ask him for stuff. I don't believe that you talking to God gets you into heaven. Only believing in Jesus does that. Sorry again.
I believe that you should try to spread your religion, but never threaten bodily harm. Try to be gentle. I am now. Try to talk to them even if they don't want to hear it, but don't keep forcing it. After they say no once in that day, back off. Try again the next day. Eventually they might want to know what it is you're so passionate about.
Christianity is a very stubborn religion. It believes that it is the only religion. John 14:6 says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you believe in the Bible unconditionally, then that one verse shuts out all other religions from being true. There will never be one true religion on earth, but we should try to increase heaven's population as much as we can.
