You should probably put a link to it in your sig... the address isn't exactly hard to remember, but I doubt everyone knows about the site like those of us here do.

    • Yeah, corey. Maybe you should get rid of what you have in your sig... It really makes no sense. Are those song lyrics or something? It's a little long, too. You should make it sweet and simple, perhaps your name and a link, and maybe a short quote, too. When you have a big signature like that it sort of takes over the whole post.

He wants the three in exponential form, like 3"3" = 27. It is a special character, so to make a website or email address use it would be very... problematic.

I'm still not getting it... "the 3 should be a 3"... The 3 IS a 3. I compared our sigs, their exactly the same in that URL (except yours has an ending slash, but that doesn't matter any). Maybe I'm just stupid; go ahead and email me so I don't look stupid in front of everyone. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just a side note: by splitting the liberal/Democratic vote, he caused Bush to get into office. If he hadn't run, the people who (foolishly) voted for him would have voted for Gore, and that would have been enough votes to put him in office, probably without the stupid FL "extravaganza" being worth anything.

Every single person in my family voted Gore, except my dad who voted Nader. We gave - and still give - him a really hard time about it. We say it is his fault that the country is ruined. Heheh...

Yeah, I agree that Nader voters screwed it up. Then again, Gore won the popular vote anyways, so it wouldn't have mattered. What a stupid system.

On my computer, coreycubed's signature shows the 3 in "Corey3" superscripted. I think he wants you to superscript the 3 in "Plugs3", not in the URL, but in the title of the link. Mind you, I don't know how he's doing that superscript on UBB, and when I click edit to try to find out what it is, it reverts to an ordinary three, but I'm sure he can tell you how he does it.

You wouldn't believe the fierce arguing over that subject we're having in my town now that they're proposing we switch to that. Some of the people arguing against it are crazy. Can someone explain why it's complicated and confusing to rank the candidates in order of your choice? Sheesh.

It does make for a slightly more complicated vote-counting procedure, but with modern computers we should be able to handle that. The real problem is best demonstrated by this provincial election from the 1950s:

In the province of British Columbia, the dominant Liberal and Conservative parties decided to switch to the preferential ballot in order to hurt the smaller Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (the ancestor of today's New Democratic Party). They figured that Liberals would put the Conservatives as their second choice, and Conservatives would put the Liberals as their second choice, and nobody would put the CCF as their first choice. However, when the votes were counted, they found that the Social Credit party - which was even less powerful than the CCF - had won.

So, dominant parties and people are afraid of introducing preferential ballots because it could give a leg up to the less powerful - for example, in the US presidential election, people could have voted for Nader or Buchanan without worrying that they would help Bush or Gore by doing so.

Ah, I'm in NS, and it doesn't show up. I just kicked this topic over to IE, and it did indeed show up as a superscript. Corey, let me know how to do the fix and I will.

For anyone who cares, I'm pro-Bush. And the person who wrote that (Aaron McGruder) is pro-Gore. But it's a funny quote, especially with visual aids which I can't show because this is text-only, and I don't feel like digging through the archives at (url="http://"http://www.ucomics.com")www.ucomics.com(/url) anyways. Oh, I haven't mentioned, it's another Boondocks quote. ๐Ÿ˜› The two people talking are Mr. and Mrs. Dubois.

BTW, EVula, I'm using a PC, so I use Alt-0179 to make the ล‚. The key combo is obviously different on a Mac. And if you were using NS, well...

Anyhow, you ought to be able to copy and paste it into your sig, or use Key Caps to look for it. Sorry for the trouble. ๐Ÿ˜

    • I was pro-Gore at election time, but now I'm not entirely sure how he would handle this situation. Bush's lack of cleverness is a bit worrisome, just pray that he keeps listening to Powell, the only cabinet officer who's really with it either.

As an interesting note on this, if you could give this situation to any president from the last 50 years, who would it be? I want to see what other people think before I give my opinion on that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If Gore were in office during the happenings of September 11th, the United States would be doomed. We probably wouldn't even have a military, since funding would be far lower than that of the Clinton administration.

Actually, Gore had proposed over twice as much funding for the military than Bush - 100 billion over a ten-year period as opposed to 45 billion over the same span. For more comparisons on their military agendas, check out this (url="http://"http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/future/agenda/") Frontline (/url) analysis from their feature, The Future of War.

      Very interesting question.
I don't have an answer now, but would note that the presidents from the early part of that period in particular would have major adjustments to make in their thinking since the world is quite different now from what it was in 1951, and we cannot know how they would deal with current conditions.

I would exclude Richard Nixon from consideration though, given the opportunities for abuse of federal power in the current situation.

    • Getting back to the subject ...

As for EVO vs. EV graphics, well, they're different. I think that, yes, the normal EVo grahpcis look less realistic (esp. the Cresent ships) than those in EV 1.0.5 (BTW, why did the Confed warship sprites not get updated? Their comm and shipyeard pictures did.) ๐Ÿ˜•

Of course, MAGMA makes it all better. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, yester and today I worked on and today I completed a re-rendered ship in Mechanisto. I'll probably try to post it on the Image Gallery, but right now I'll be going home soon and away from my computer.

      God bless,
