When I first registered a username here, the Escape Velocity forum normally received around 5 to 10 posts a day. It was obvious then that Override had taken over in popularity, but fortunately, most people still respect EV as the 'ol classic. This forum has certainly woken up the past few months...

Were you on the WWWBoard during the SkyHawk era? I joined the boards right when 1.0.5 was released, and Skyhawk had just been overthrown as WWWBoard admin. What was your handle on the old ev board?

Skyhawk didn't have a board, rather he was the administrator of the Ambrosia EV Board. That was back when we still had EV.com, and on EV.com there was the official web board, and the person who ran the site would pick someone to run the web board. It was Skyhawk for a while, then he was overthrown and HellHunter took the job. The WWWBoard was pre-Discboard, and very few people from there are still around. But I do see a few once in a while.

Hmmm... Interesting. I've been playing Escape Velocity since 1996, but I never got into the web board stuff until late last year.
I've also heard that Skyhawk wasn't exactly "overthrown," but simply replaced since he was developing a game similiar to Escape Velocity.

Hey! I have a big problem. The names of outfits that I have are too long. "Hydrogen Turret", "HyperDrive Enhancement", and "Particle Accelerator" are too long! They don't fit. The text under the images in the outfits in the game overlap and it looks aweful. Is there a way to make the space for text under outfits bigger? I guess I need the boxes for individual outfits to be bigger.

Hmmm... You're problem isn't unusual. I've run into the same thing many times. I believe you can somehow resize the space between the outfit boxes, but you'd be better off simply abbreviating the names (example: Particle Acc., or HyperDrive Enh.). It looks a little odd, but the player should be able to figure it out by looking closely at the abbreviation or simply reading the description.

Yeap, Xenocide is yet to be finished. I've also noticed how many of the highly-anticipated plugs or games eventually fade away...
Sorry that I left abbreviating the text as your only choice. You could try playing around with the outfit setup, but you're more likely to screw it up than get the results you want.

Abbreviation is just fine. I abbreviated the items and opened it in the game, and it looks fine. I have a lot of weapons to make, so I'm not going to worry about stupid little stuff like that too much.

Well, they've been delayed a tad. My dad tried to install 10.1 today, and it broke, so he's been trying to fix it all day, pretty much. I haven't been able to get in much at all until tonight, and then I had to catch up here. Since it still isn't fixed, your guess is about as good as mine as to when I'll be able to start, though it should be in the next few days. Once I get going, it should only take a day or two.

OS X is not ready for public use, yet. Version 10.0 seemed like a virus. It's so slow it's unpractical, and it caused a myriad of problems for people who tried to install it. 10.1 may be better, I don't know because I didn't buy it. I think Apple was trying to rush it out the door and never got to work out the kinks.

Correct. Operating System 10 is plagued with bugs. Apple was in a rush when they released it, and the results are problems here and there. OS 10.1, from what I hear at Apple's website, is suppost to have plenty of bug fixes.

Actually, OS X was pretty good once you give it a chance. I've been using it on a normal basis for the last month or two. 10.1 will be much better and faster, and appears to eliminate all the major problems people have been complaining about. The installation problem is limited to a few computers, and seems to have something to do with partitioned drives. There's more to it than that, because some people with partitions have installed it fine. We just haven't figureed out the exact problem yet.
