Is there a program that will let me put text into a mission? Just like EV-Edit does?

I'd use EV-Edit, but it has caused me to lose my EV Data File. So, any suggestions? And if you say Pontus' EV Mission Tet Exporter, or one of his, please explain, cause I don't understand how to use those.

Okay, I'm trying to use ResEdit to make the mission text. But I can't seem to get into the misn resource. Yeah, I can ge t into it, but all I see are numbers! I can't get the fields where I type the mission text. I read the part where it says in the EVBAE. But I don't see what it's talking about.

Use Schmelta-V by Jeremy Condit. Mission editing is what it does. Actually, mission editing is pretty much all it does. And its interface is somewhat easier to work with than EV-Edit's mission edit component. You may download Schmelta-V from the EV Add-Ons page here.

Ev-Edit made you lose your data file? Gee, who'd had guessed?

Use shmelta-V. Its the best for mission editing. Resedit isnt working for you because you don't have the template loaded.

Of course, in ResEdit, you put the mission descriptions in the dësc resource anyway. Nothing wrong with that, as far as I can see.

It sounds to me like you have not installed the EV templates either in your Res-Edit Prefs or in your plug. If put the templates in either location, the numbers will go away and fields will appear.

As far as using Editors for this tasks, while it may seem easier and faster, in the long run the practice you would get by using ResEdit for simple tasks will allow you to be able to complete more complex resources for your future projects that Editors cannot handle.

Yeah, that's about how I felt when I tried to make my first plugin.

Sorry if I'm not very helpful. I don't know a lot about plug-in development. If I did I would be working on one instead of being on this board. You could e-mail me the plug-in file and I could take a look at it. Sometimes you overlook something, and it helps to have another person look it over for you.

Try reinstalling your EV Data file. It sounds to me like it may be corrupt or something.

That's all that I can tell you. You may want to go onto the Developers board and ask for help if you havn't already. They will probably know more about this than we.

Aside from being excessively rude, that's really uncalled for. You really haven't given us enough info to make an accurate diagnosis of your problem. Like ares has said, without having your plug to look at, there's only so much we can do. If you want to mail it to me, I would be willing to have a look at it for you.

You don't actually put text into a mďsn resource; rather, you create dësc resources, and put their ID numbers in the appropriate fields of the mďsn resource.

I would suggest that you ask further questions about this in the Development forum.

(Edit) Oh, and the EV templates are (or should be) included with the EV Bible. There should be a resedit file called EV templates or something like that. If you open it, you'll find a "TMPL" resource, which you should cut-and-paste into any plug-in file you're working on. Most if not all 3rd party plug-ins will also have these in the plugs. Mine (Bounty Plus) does, for example.
