That certainly sounds like more than Visual Page can handle. Of course, GoLive can do all the features you've mentioned, but it is much more time-consuming. I'll download BBEdit sometime and try it out... Thanks for the recommendation.

Perhaps it's just because your server is much more crowded than it used to be.

What are these "shtml" pages I sometimes hear about (as you've brought up)? I see them every now and then, but are they like some form of upgraded html code?

"Server parsed HTML" or "server side includes." It means that you can put various include commands in your HTML files that the server automatically replaces. For example, most servers have commands that allow you to automatically insert the date the page was last modified, or the contents of another HTML file, which means that you can have your navigation bar or "What's New" section on every page, but only have to change one copy of it.

.shtml is the file extension for HTML pages that use Server Side Includes (SSI), a nifty way of including dynamic information on a site. I want to use it to standardize some of my links, but I currently use it on the Lair to display my counter. Heres how:

Go (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/includes/counter.txt")here.(/url) See how its just 5 lines of text? Now, go to the (url="http://"http://www.evula.com/")main page(/url) (I swear this isn't just to get hits, its an actual lesson...kinda...). Once its done loading, view the source. You'll find the code from counter.txt right there, in the actual file... but it isn't there. What IS there is this: "<!--#include file="includes/counter.txt" -->" (note: if you quote that bit of code on the UBB board, it probably will display something funky...). That tells the server to include the file "includes/counter.txt" when a user access the page.

I'd go in depth about it some more, but I don't particularly feel like it. Maybe I should do up a SSI thing for my oh-so-pathetic HTML guide. Email me if you really want to learn about SSI more; its something nice to have in a web arsenal, but not important enough for me to go in-depth about here.

Even though I'm not a big EVO fan, but a HUMONGOUS EV DIEHARD, I think the site looks great. Almost as good as ours! JUst kidding. I think it's really nicely cleansed.

Believe me, I still think that my new Saber Studios website is junk compared to some of my past work. I'll build a much better page once I get a fast server and the time.
