I took the graphic Skyblade for me (see it in topic: "my site") and messed with it for a while in Photoshop. I might make it into an image map for my (uncomplete) site. Tell me what you think:

Sorry, but it is quite... huge. May take you a long time to load this. If I do make it my image map, as I add sections to my site I will add more little boxes with red section names in them.

So what do you think? I need some comments. I'm not sure if this is an improvement or not. I know the neon green bars are kind of ugly, so in a final version I will make those a little nicer looking somehow.

Now that I look at it, you're right... I'm going to try to get skyblade's to work. Only problem is that I am having some trouble copying the 4 boxes on the right hand side over to the left so I have 8 boxes, but I will get it to work.

Like I said, I can do all that for you. I still have all the files in .psd format, so it won't take but a few minutes to put four boxes on each side of the circle. Just tell me what you want on the boxes (as in text), and I'll get to work.

The image doesn't look bad, the text just needs some fixing-up.

The more I look at my version, the more I dislike it... I really just made the changes because I wanted to mess around in photoshop for a while. Here is the one I will use, adding text as I make more sections:

That looks excellent (except for greyish background section), I used the "Copperplate Gothic" font to create the text, so hopefully that will help your additions to look more like the original text.

What do you mean the grayish backround? It should be all black... All I see is black, but maybe I'm not very observant.

Hey, should I keep archiving old news? Its sort of a hassle and I don't think anyone really looks at it. Should I bother?

I have a good moniter that tends to pick up color which other moniters can't, so don't worry about it. The background appears totally black on my iMac...

If archiving your news is getting annoying and time consuming, don't bother to archive it. Just delete it once it gets old if you like...

Actually, there is some gray there. It's very dark and must generally be looked at at weird angles for it to be visible at all. I wouldn't worry about it.

Actually, on my monitor the Grey is sticking out like a sore thumb. I have the 22" Cinema Display.

That box of gray was probably caused by saving (and saving again) the .jpg at medium quality. That tends to make black look more like gray...

I did a LOT of saving and re-saving in .jpg format, so I'll be you're right. I don't see it on my crappy monitor, so where is the gray? I will take it out.

Yeap, that sounds like the problem...

The gray is located where the original borders of the graphic (when I first posted it) once were. If you could somehow select the area (might take awhile if you don't have the image in layers) and apply black, that might fix the problem.

Adjusting the brightness and contrast is also another option. It might darken the image somewhat, but just see what works best for you.

Ok, its not my monitor, its the fact that I had the contrast/brightness way down.. I turned them up and the gray is now very obvious. I tweaked the image a bit, and decided to cut some unnessacary space off the top and bottom. Here is the new and improved graphic. Tell me if you see any more problems:
