    • The Legion

I have completed the first chapter of my EV-based webstory, The Legion. I have a few questions... First of all, is there some other webstory or something named The Legion? I don't want to be stealing someone else's title.

And are there any other major EV Fiction sites I should look into posting my story to other than the chronicals? I'll put it up on the chronicals site soon. Look for it... I would make it it's own website, but I don't pretend to be an HTML expert πŸ™‚

    • Heh, there's a lot of html expertise available on the board, RC knows it well, I think, and likes people to ask him; I've got a pretty good grasp of the basics now (but I'm still learning, don't ask me anything advanced yet). I'm sure either of us would be happy to help you make a site.

    • Hrm... I'll think about it. I have very very little free time now that I'm back in school, and I wouldn't have much time to work on a site. I know some basics, too, enough to make a little site. I just don't have the time or patience to do so. I may make this into a plugin soon... Well, not soon, but someday....

So you think that using The Legion as my story title is OK? I like it, but I'm afraid someone else has taken the name already.

    • "Legion" sounds just fine to me. I don't recall it being used by anyone else, but then again, I've never looked into the Chronicles.

As for not having time to do a website, just hand it over to me, I'll take care of that. πŸ˜‰

    • Ok, seriously? If I could just mail you an outline of what I want, could you make me a sort of template? Or just a main page, and then I could copy over the HTML and change it for the different sites.

Whats a good place for webspace, anyways?

Check with your ISP; some internet/computer magazines have reports like that, check it out.

Or... you can submit the request to my IT company and we'll do it pro bono. πŸ˜„

I think there was a small plugin from 1996 or 1997 called either Legion or The Legion, but no stories.

I know I downloaded a "The Legion" once...

You could also put your story in the EV Creative Works section of my ez-board, found (url="http://"http://pub80.ezboard.com/blukesspot")here.(/url) It gets almost no traffic, but I would be honored if you took twenty seconds to cut and paste it over there... πŸ™‚

    • Theres a difference between a chronicle and a website, you know. πŸ˜‰

    • Luke, I would love to post my story to your board, but I already get my share of junk mail. I don't need to register for another thing... But you can post my story onto your board if you wish. Email me and I'll send it to you.

f2s.com (I think thats right) is a popular host; however, I've heard a lot of complaints about their FTP being down a lot lately. I "rescued" PFTN from them not too long ago. Another incredibly cool host is evula.net, but that isn't a 100% available deal right now. πŸ™‚

    • I mentioned this in another topic...Yahoo! offers free space through GeoCities (but you have to sign up for Yahoo! first) and homestead.com offers free space too, apparently, but I haven't figured out how...Luke might know the answer.

I do not recommend Geocities... :frown:

(url="http://"http://www.homestead.com")Homestead.com(/url) does offer free webspace, but it is limited slightly... you could probably fit an EV story on their without too much trouble, though. Homestead also seems to be set up so it is as hard as possible for you to get a page, even though they constantly advertise how easy it is. And it is, once you give them all of the information about yourself you know plus a little bit more.

(url="http://"http://www.fanfiction.net")FanFiction.net(/url) might take your story, although I don't think they have an Escape Velocity section. πŸ˜›

ares21, you could e-mail your story to me and I'll put it up on my board.

      (edit: 600th post! Woo-Hoo!)

    • One of the few good things about Geocities is the ease of worknig with it.
I am currently using Geocities for my upcoming graphics site.

Just remember that Geocities doesn't support any form of external linking, so you won't be able to post in the Image gallery with that, I don't think.

I could probably be persuaded to host another one, though. πŸ™‚

    • Nice. The letters were done in Infini-D, right? The texturing looks similar to your Rebel Dreadnought. Background is drawn from your earlier work on the BFS II map too, correct?

    • Oh man, skyblade, that's awesome. I was expecting white letters on a white dotted black background... At least, thats what I'm capable of doing. πŸ™‚

I had no problems downloading it to me hard drive.

      Thanks a ton.

Correct. Letters were constructed inside Infini-D. and I used one of my own textures, similar to the one applied to the Rebel Dreadnaught and Supercruiser. The background isn't the same as the BFS II map, but I used the same Photoshop plugin.
