I've downloaded a lot of plugs and they say in the descrip. that they have a new gov. and a new mission. When I use the plug all there is is a big hole in the center of the galaxy. (I.E. it eats up Sol, Centauri, Tau Ceti, and Bernard). Why does this happen? I want the new mission but I can't gain access to it. If anyone knows the problem, or this has happened to them, please post here (looks down). Thanks.

I dont have much experience with plug-ins but I understand that there are a lot of them and chances are that the plug-in you installed isnt working, try downloading another plug-in

Many plugs require that you start a new pilot file to play them. Check the documents that should have been included with the plug for info on requirements.

That depends on the plugs involved, I have 4 in my plugins folder now and it runs fine.

Hi Insano, a useful utility that I picked up off the EV Add-ons page quite some time ago is called EV Plug-in Auditor 1.0.2 (Hope that's correct), this utility looks for conflicts between plug-ins and makes it easy for someone to know if plugs they want to use will be in conflict with each other for such things as mission bits used, and a number of other of the resources. As the creator of the utility states however, it may not catch all of them so be warned.
The best guideline however is the Readme files with plugs. The majority that state, 'Remove any and all other plugs" are good indications that they will be in conflict with other plug-ins.
Using this utility has allowed me to find the conflicts in several plugs that I like and has allowed me to find some creative ways to fix the conflicts so that they can all work together. Note, that I do this only for my own use and not to give them to anyone else.

Actually, EV Tuner, More EV voices, and 2 I've written myself, which are designed to be compatible. One's the old BFS plug start, and the other is a patch for it for testing purposes.

Hmmm, i'm not sure if this is any help, but if there is a new gov (a change in gov, destruction of planet, etc) usually the system where it occurs dissapears and you have to re-explore it. This might be your case, because by your description, i'm picturing a black hole on your map that you just have to explore to get those systems back. Buy maybe i'm mising a point, and you've already tried doing that and it still doesn't work. As they said before, make sure you start a new pilot and that your version is 1.05 and that there are no conflicts in your plug-ins folder. There is also the possibility that the plug was corrupted during downloading, which happens with high traffic on-line sometimes. So if all else fails, try re-downloading it. I hope this helps, but if it doesn't, don't yell at me i'm just trying to be helpfull, k?
