I am very sorry to have to do this here, as I have no interest in starting a public flame war. I would much prefer to send you an e-mail to this effect, but your e-mail is not listed. If you want to reply to this, please do so by e-mailing me. I do not wish to publically attack you here, but at this stage I have no choice as to how to do it.
in my opinion, your recent actions and assertions on the BFS II thread have been insane. Not the good kind of insane that crazy people on the boards almost all have, but stupid insane.
It appears that you have no respect at all for Alien technology, which is widely regarded as being the best. You also have no appreciation for the fact that other people posting to the thread are quite intelligent, and are not automatically going to fall for your traps.
I have no clue about the battle from anime you mention where ships smash into the planet, because I rather dislike all things anime, and pay as little attention as possible to them. I also don't see how it makes any difference to the discussion. Sending 18 Interceptors after a fleet is not insane by itself, nor does it have any bearing on whether someone will be stupid enough to crash ships into a planet. The Aliens would figure this out before they got too close, and would turn around, leaving your ships to smash into the planet, or destroy them easily if they swerved to avoid it.
Further, in this instance, sending out 18 Interceptors as a pursuit force is not insane. Your fleet was already heavily damaged, and was low or out of ammunition. Further, the Aliens had vastly superior technology. Quite simply, you lacked the firepower to destroy those 18 fighters, and they certainly had firepower to destroy your fleet.
Remember that Alien Interceptors have 300 Armor, a very high recharge speed, and as as fast and manuverable as the best ships in your fleet. Obviously, they have a significant advantage there, and taht advantage was greatly increased by the fact that no one had significant ammunition left. Alien Beams are much more powerful than your Proton Cannons.
I have also witnessed at least two times that you tried to use manuverability as an ultimate advantage to inflict impossibly high losses on an enemy with little cost to yourself. This may work on the in-game engine, when flying against AIs, but that does not in any way apply here.
Your post at the start of the battle with rebel council is a perfect example. In it, you attempt to destroy 287 million credits worth of ships, and lose only 16.2 million credits worth of ships. This is rather ludicrous on the face of it, and becomes more so with a glance at the respective advantages of each side.
Your advantage:
Slightly better speed and manuverability
rebel council's advantages:
Surprise
Much more powerful weapons
Much more powerful shielding
Drops out amongst your ships, compounding confusion
Does this look ludicrous, stupid, etc. to you? It sure does to me.
Overall, I find your attiude on the thread to be rather rude, seldom giving fellow memebers a chance to reply, and sometimes insulting their intelligence in the process. You have also done many stupid things which are not permitted by the rules, or which were so unreasonable that we never thought we'd need to put provisions against them in the rules.
At this point in time, I will not be sorry to see you leaving the thread Saturday, though my judgement on that may still be a bit clouded at this point.
