After spending three days at Turin following the great battle the had previously occured, Admiral Phillips promoted Captain Skyblade to the rank of Commander, which game him command of the entire fleet. Phillips on the other hand, had been called by government forces on Pashlife to command the newly-constructed 73rd Rebel warfleet; nearly twice the size of Skyblade's command. Following the battle of Turin, the 17th Battlegroup and the 417th Warfleet had combined forces to compose the 213th Navial Division. After receiving reinforcements from the surrounding Rebel planets, the 213th now boasted twenty-five cruisers, sixty-six destroyers, and four hundred mantas. In addition, the brand-new "C" class Rebel Cruiser was being added to the fleet in limited numbers. Though it is the exact same design as the original Rebel Cruiser, the "C" class carries four of the Rebellion's most recent fighter, the Star Cobra (A Lightning Fighter adapted by the Rebellion for heavy fighter role). These deadly craft are armed with twin missile racks, eight missiles, twin javelin pods, 250 pod rockets, and six turbolasers. Since it doesn't carry heavy rockets, the craft is far more agile then the original Lightning fighter. Twenty-four of these new fighters were now in the 213th Division, carried by six "C" class cruisers.
"Incoming message, commander," radioed Lieutenant Dobson from the communication's room of the Triton Corsair. "Comm channel three, line secure."
"Thanks Lieutenant, put it through," Skyblade replied.
"Commander Skyblade? This is Jonathan Navarone, and we've got your next assignment ready."
"Why, I find it an honor to speak with you, Mr. President," Skyblade spoke, with a bit of shock in his voice. "What might those orders be?"
"Well now, due to the amazing and stunning victory at Turin three days ago, it is now time that we make a strike for the Confederation core worlds. Due to the strength of the 213 Division, we believe you could pull off such an offensive with considerable ease, that is, if we catch the Confederation by surprise."
Commander Skyblade sat back in hit seat a moment before speaking. "A surprise offensive, you say?"
"That's right. Now normally, such an offensive would be performed in and around Diphida and Centauri, but that's not the plan. Our target is to avenge the lost battle of Sol, which your own fleet suffered from."
"Sol!?" Skyblade said with surprise. "How could we pull off such an attack with surprise? After all, it is the capital of the Confederation, and the senate on earth is not ignorant enough to be blind to such an assault."
"True, but that's one reason why we ordered General Phillips to come to Pashlife. We want him to lead an assault on Capella with the 73rd warfleet, to create a diversion. Though we've tried such things in limited numbers in the past, this is different. Hours ago, we intenionally sent a message to Spica, where the 73rd is currently headed, over an unsecure comm line. Now knowing the obsession the Confederation has for intercepting our military messages, we are actually hoping they caught the signal, and decoded it. If they did, then our plan will likely work."
"Could you explain?" Skyblade asked.
"Yes. Though the message contained plenty of information that is needed for the assault on Capella, a few lines contained were false. We stated in the message that the entire Rebel fleet would be attacking Capella, which is obviously not the case. During Phillip's attack on Capella, you will attack Stardock Alpha once and for all, where our agent, code-named Overider, failed to detonate the shield generators hours ago. Of course, you will have to lead yet another commando raid on the station, but you'll have hundreds for backup, instead of the ten men you had under your command last time. Are the orders clear?"
"Yes sir. the 213th Division will be ready to move at your command."
"Very well," Navarone went on. "You will move tommorow at 3:00 A.M. sharp, and head directly for Sol. Avoid or destroy all Confederation patrol craft along the way, as we don't want the Confederation to know of this attack. This offense it top secret, and if any vessel warns Sol of your coming, you'll be involoved in another battle even bigger then Turin. Good luck, and God bless."
"Thankyou, sir. Triton Corsair over and out."
Commander Skyblade briefly went over his orders again, recorded into his computer, before reaching for the communication's button.
"Lieutenant Dobson, put the ship on the comm, channel five," Skyblade ordered.
"Roger sir. Comm frequencies to the ship now open."
"Crew of the Triton Corsair, this is your commander. I've just spoken with the president, and we've got some new orders. Now I know everyone of you is exhausted from the battle we struggled to win a few days ago, but sitting here isn't going to win the war for the Rebellion. Just remember that the sooner we finish this war, the sooner we can all go home to our families. Tommorow morning, we set course for Sol, in a second attempt to destroy Stardock Aplha. I will lead my own commando team, while a few more officers lead squads of Rebel Crack Troopers to protect our flanks. I'll be more specific with the orders when the time comes, but for now, everyone get some rest. Commander Skyblade out."
================================
Alright everyone. I will continue the battle that has been mentioned in the above text when time allows, as well as the commando raid etc. Feel free to post anything else...
