General Rak, about your new technology:

The plasma charge turret fires an electrical plasma charge, which wipes outs 75 shields per blast. However, it can only fire 2 rounds per second, and can only target 1 fighter at a time. Each one weighs 12 tons, due to the lack of necessary firing mechanisms.
I've got a problem with the italicized part of that. That's just insane, reconsider. Weapons powerful enough to take out a Rebel Destroyer in 3 or 4 shots are just crazy. The rest of your technology looks fine, but I don't know why you think it will help.
I would perfer if, at this point, we could avoid much more in the way of new inventions, since I'm doing a plug of all of them. Note, General Rak, this means I'm going to need graphics for all this stuff from you.
Also, I don't see much reason for Skyblade to investigate an obvious lead like that, you haven't done anything yet. This recommendation is being passed on to Admiral Skyblade.
Skyblade, if you do decide to go, take your 4 Supercruisers in your fleet, along with other stuff, it's too obvious. They should be able to handle pretty much anything.

The Rebel feints around the Confederation were going quite well. While not inflicting much damage, they weren't taking any significant losses either, and were confusing the Confederation Navy rather seriously. It didn't have enough ships to respond in force everywhere, and if it did somewhere, the Rebels would jump to a nearby system. Eventually, most of them wound up in the Tau Ceti system, which wasn't as heavily defended as most, and began a massed naval warfare with the 3 Confederate fleets that had followed them there. When some backup units from Skyblade's fleet at Eridani arrived, the tide began to turn in the Rebel's favor. Meanwhile, Tabletop and Landfall were now in Rebel hands.
At this point, Macavenger took the remaining units of his fleet into Rigel, where Commodore Vaten's fleet was fighting with a Confederate fleet that had been left there for defense, along with some Drones.
"Firefoxes out!" Macavenger called. "Pick up those drones. Supercruisers, go in. Looks like the rest of the fleet won' be needed here, retuen to Centauri. Try to convert it's shipyards and Upgrade the F Class Cruisers to Supercruisers if possible."
The Supercruisers came in at the Confederate fleet. The battle to this point had been largely a stalemate, because while the Rebel ships were newer and better equipped, the Confederate ships were a lot tougher to kill. But that had just changed. The Confeds didn't know it yet, but with the arrival of the Supcruisers, the battle was over.
A screen of 10 Frigates with a fairly large group of Gunboats was diverted to meet the threat. One of the Rebel shiops, the R.S.S. Annihilator , went straight past, ignoring them. Meanwhile, the other five engaged, and took about 12 seconds to move through the Confederate ships. Meanwhile, the R.S.S. Annihilator was attracting attention by going straight through, so 4 cruisers turned to attack it together, then deal with the others behind it when they caught up. Until then, it would be four against one, which quickly proved a gross mismatch, in favor of the Annihilator. Not only did it represent the latest in Rebel technology, it had Admiral Macavenger at the helm, who was pushing at Admiral Skyblade for the title of best tactician in the Rebellion.
With the arrival of all the Supercruisers at the main fleet, the rest of the battle was over within 2 minutes, and the populace of New Britain welcomed back the Rebel troops - at least, some of it did.

Mr. Navarone called the headman of the local shipyards to his office. "How are the refits going?" he asked.
"Very good, sir. We've got 20 of 60 cruisers in the fleet here converted to Supercruisers, and the rest should be done inside a week. After that, we'll start upgrading the Destroyers here to Assault Carriers. That'll give us space to house another 960 extra fighters. Those refits are also easier, so we hope to have them all done in two to three weeks from now."
Navarone called Apollo, and got a very similar report about it's sector fleet. Sirgil Starport, Sentinel Station, and Port Oread had nearly finished upgrading their ships which hadn't been called away on feints. There was no progress with the Sector fleet at Atropos, as there were no facilities to do the work there.
Another top secret Rebel Project was rapidly approaching completion, and in fact was going to be unveiled on ISN later that night. Navarone checked in with the project foreman on Cappela. Yes, it would be done in time.
He called Macavenger. "I want you to take your fleet to Armstrong. The feinting fleets are being distributed to the new territories, Matar is picking up the slack, and we're turning out new ships in the area. You won't be needed there. The Confederation is crumbling, so our next task should be to move agains the pirates. As such, I want you at Armstrong, we're in easy striking distance of two of their bases there."
"Yes sir. Is the new system on-line?"
"It will be in two hours. You can wait until then, and use it."

"This is ISN, the Inerstellar News Network. The Rebels today announced that they've been able to create some new hyperspace bypasses, linking the systems Capella and Rigel, Nemesis and Apollo, and Capella with Vulcan. This new network is designed to partially circumvent the edict of the Alliance of Independent worlds, which will not allow Rebel ships into it's systems."

Almost doesn't count, but barely does.
"The problem with the designated driver program, it's not a desirable job. But if you ever get sucked into doing it, have fun with it. At the end of the night, drop them off at the wrong house."
