    • Problems with the Aliens


      I've tried to destroyed the aliens but I can't.
      I'm equiped with a Kestrel with many torpedoes,
      proton turrets. I've tried with a captured Confed
      Cruiser but failed. The same thing happened with an
      upgraded Lightning.

      My ears are wide open

    • You only need to use primaries. Turrets are recommended. Make sure the ship has speed upgrades, only using the turn enhancement works fine too. All you need to do is: Lock onto the cruiser, and fire all your guns at it, and keep turning so it can´t use its beam cannon and it won´t use its seeker drones unless it is right in front of you. My favorite for this mission is the corvette. Hope that helps! 🙂

    • I recommend either using a heavy fighter (Rapier or Lightning) or a Corvette (although the Kestrel can complete the mission). Arm your ship with as many laser cannons as possible. Then buy turrets of your choice. As U Rebel already said, primaries are out of the question. They burn up space that you could be using for primaries and turrets. Heavy rockets, however, can be good against the cruiser. Grab a tractor beam if possible, and use it against the fighters while you pound them with your lasers. Also, hirer six corvette escorts if you can, and bring them along. They usually get rid of the cruiser before you can get to it, and do well as erasing some important fighter shielding.

    • I thank both of you, I have destroyed the cruiser and
      the fighters, but one of then escaped, is this normal?
      I've used a captured Rebel Destroyer with four proton turrets,
      and two neutron blasters with all speed upgrades, shield capaciators
      rechargers and tons of armors. Without any escort.

      A fighter escaped!? That is very odd...The alien fighters are normally very aggressive, and the fact that one retreated is beyond me. Were you able to complete that mission, even if that single fighter got away?

      Rebel Destroyer? Best ship you can use, but you can't get one before the alien mission unless you use cheats or capture one (as you stated. I normally don't like doing this, as you get a bad record in Rebel space). When I use a Rebel Destroyer for the alien mission, I normally arm it with four proton turrets, four proton cannons, two heavy rocket launchers, and thirty heavy rockets. If I have the extra space, I fit shield capacitators and enhancers, and maybe some durasteel. I would never suggest arming a ship with neutron blasters, but such weapons may be helpful for destroying the alien cruiser...

      It doesn't matter if one escaped. You only need to destroy the cruiser. The first time I beat the cruiser I had a Kestrel with rapier and lightning escorts (former pirates). I also had 10 torps (which sort of helped while my shields rose). My friend beat the cruiser using space bombs. The last time I defeated it I had a clipper (it took a while though).

      You have almost completed the mission! As Ultimate Rebel says, it's the Cruiser that counts. Just get back to the base where you accepted it ... and then congratulate yourself.

    • One time when I destroyed the Alien cruiser two fighters ran for it. But it's kind of a moot point anyway. The only thing that happens when you don't destroy all the fighters is they show up now and again in random systems and cause trouble. But if you destroy a fighter in a system, your karma with that gov and/or system will go up signifigantly.

      Actually, because of the way the resources are configured, that will happen even if you do destroy all three fighters.

      There are several now, and I have been working on one on and off for a while. If I ever finish it, I'll let you all know, but right now my Starcraft campaign is almost done so I'm working hard to finish that, and it could be a while before I get to much else.

      I used to have EV .2, and there were only two fighters. Also Reb and Confed Cruisers had 4, not 5. Everything is so different!

      Cruisers with 5 fighters? Either you've got some weird plug, or need to quit smoking. 😉 No version of EV that I am aware of gives the Cruisers 5 fighters.

    • I'm having a bit of a problem. I can't find the alien cruiser to destroy. Any hints on to which uninhabited system I can find it? Once I do find it, i'm sure I'll have little or no problem destroying it.

      The only hint I'll give you is that the people in your mission briefing lied, it's not closer to the Asteroid Belt. i guess they aren't lying exactly, since they don't know, but they're definitely wrong...

      Of course, the location of the cruiser varies depending on whether you're doing the Confederate or Rebel missions.
