I have seen various ratings across the boards, from Offender (Nothing worse than that yet) to Honored Leader. How does one get a karma rating? And what does it mean?

You can figure it out by reading the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/guidelines.html")guidelines(/url), but for a more basic explanation, you get your karma raised by a moderator who thinks you did a good deed to the webboard community, and get your karma lowered by doing a bad deed to the community. I, for example, have gotten a karma raise for helping out a new member of the boards (often referred to as a 'newbie') who had asked about plugin development, but had posted on the wrong board. Speaking of wrong boards, this should really have been posted on the Just Chat forum, but I'll excuse you since you seem to be new here.

Karma is given by Moderators.... if you do something good, (i'm not sure what is meant by "good") your karma is incresed by one... if you do something bad (like acting like a jerk, or starting a flame war ir something) than your karma is decresed... i am not sure if it has any effect other than letting ppl know how you have been acting... also after a certain number of posts neg. karma returns to 0

Positive karma is recognition that you have done something the moderators like. Negative karma is a record of a violation of the web board rules. If your karma reaches -10, you are banned from the web boards,

Also, there is a limit on positive karma, it can only get to +15. No one has gotten to +15 yet, and andrew says people that get to +15 might get a prize of some kind.
The highest anyone has gotten their karma is +9. However, a few days after getting +9 karma, PlanetPhill became a moderator, and his karma was reset to blessed.
Right now, top karma seems to be a three-way tie between myself, skyblade, and david arthur, all at +7.

+15? Really? I thought the limited was +10. Hmmm...... Before my goal was to get about +3 karma and then be very happy, but now I think I'll be yet another competitor to the +15 karma (no, that doesn't mean I'll spam, that actually means I'll post less and make my posts better)
