Just to break the trend (and this is true btw) I think ezboards are great. You get a great number of options considering it's free. The ads don't bother me in the least. I found it extremely easy to set up and extremely easy to manage. The fact that you can make your own themes is a big bonus... The only disadvantage I can think of is the lack of a karma system, but seriously, how many webboard systems have karma?

Exactly. Ultimate Bulletin Board is about $150, but that is far better then paying around twenty dollars every few months for the "Gold" edition of EZboard.

Yes. However, EzBoard has the advantage of being incredibly simple and easy to create. That's why it's so popular.

That is exactly why I hate ezboard. It is too basic...As a web designer, I can state that being restricted by a program's limitations is incredibly annoying. Owning UBB, you can choose to do basic things, while on the other hand you could get advanced and implement CGI, karma-like systems etc...
Ultimate Rebel- Yeap. Just pay 150 bucks for UBB and it's yours forever. I'm thinking of ordering it in a few days...
