I find it unrealistic and bothersome that with this system a Rapier could easily hold a lightning bay (and can, in fact, hold a Hawk bay without game modification). If you use this system, be sure to make the fighters themselves take up mass, to make up for the reletively low bay mass.

I'll bite, what would you consider a realistic system?

And Cruiser I see your point. But maybe it has a place as an AI ship.

    • I believe the gap between the Rapier and the Corvette is just begging to be filled. It's quite a hop up, leaving the Corvette as the only civillian skirmish ship.

How hard is it to use ResEdit?

And does '(m*#)+((m*#)/2)=? m=Fighter Mass #=number of ships in bay' sound like a reasonable formula?

The corvette is really too good (too much space and speed) which is the only reason there is a gap. You should reprice the corvette to about 4 million, maybe rename it. Then create a Sloop/Torpedo Boat/Gunship type between rapier and corvette. Or upgrade the rapier-- its description claims it has missiles, add some.

The formula is reasonable-- I always thought fighter bays took up too much mass--however, I agree with crafty that fighters should have mass. Missiles have mass, rockets have mass, surely those huge missile carrying fighters have mass.
