    • Multiple Lightnings? How?

Hey, I just got my Kestrel, and it's two lightnings, but two lightnings is pretty pathetic when you are taking on anything that you need to use them against. So is there anyway to get more than two? I seem to remember that I could pick up disabled ones or something like that. Or do I just have to dish out the big bucks for more?

    • Disable another Kestrel before it gets all its Lightnings out. It's not easy.

You're best trying that in a government cruiser, and then once you have 10
or so stocked swap to the Lightning and you'll have a full 12.

    • I'm not quite sure how this happens, and it requires quite a bit of luck, but here goes: (this is EV 1.0.5, by the way)
If a kestrel jumps in and you attack it, the lightnings given out by the kestrels will automatically attack you. The same goes when the kestrel attacks another ship. So once the lightnings have been deployed and go off to destroy their target, you hit the kestrel with everything. The lightnings are attacking their target and aren't bothered with you. Disable the kestrel, but don't board it. When the lightnings finish off their target, they will come back and dock with the kestrel, even if it's disabled. Yours for the taking.
Alternatively, you could attack the kestrel, get it down to armour, hail it, pay it what it wants to stop attacking you. The lightnings re-dock, then you hit it again, disabling it without it getting out any lightnings. Don't know whether it'll work, never tried it myself, but it's something to try.

    • I think though that the computer controlled ligtnings attack you if you attack the mothership.

    • It's really quite easy. First go to a pirate world and "camp" on the uninhabited planet near it. Then when a kestrel enters the system attack it and bribe it to retreat then deal with the lightning that it launched and then reattack the Kestrel, it will only use its turrets and when you disable and board it you will have a 33% chance of getting the remaining Lightning. Just keep doing this intil you have as many as you desire ( I once had twelve of them on a Confed Cruiser using a plug that gave me the ability to buy the lightning bay).

    • Is this just a way to cheat the limit of 2, or a large challenge?

      ------------------

    • Hmm, well thanks for all the imput guys, I will try all of that right away. I will tell you how challenging it is too if you want to keep up.

    • If the trick I told you about, you know, bribing the kestrels so that their lightnings redock, works, write it on the boards, I'd like to know, seeing as I've never tried it.

If you disable the mother kestral, and then disable the lightnings, you can drag the lightnings onto the mothership (using the tractor beam) . They will be absorbed by the mothership, but do not necessarily appear as "ammo" when you board the mothership, and so you can't get them. I only tried this once, maybe they will never turn up as ammo.

    • Hire a kestrel as an escort. Then, release it from servtitude. Fire on it quickly, only a couple of shots, and then get ready to hail the ship. As soon as the Kestrel consieders you hostile, bribe it. Then fire on it again. It will not release its fighters after a bribe; it will just run. Blast away at it until it is disabled. Board it and capture the lightnings from the "ammo" section. If they don't appear there, immediately go to the opening screen by hitting "esc" and re-open your pilot and try again. You can get MANY lightnings this way. I got around 40-something.

The first time I did this (cf. above) I disabled the lightnings first and then the Kestral. As noted above, it didn't work, I tried it 3 or 4 more times, with the same result. Then, an inspiration ! I disabled the Kestral first, and then the lightnings (this is harder, since you have to avoid getting killed by the lightnings, while disabling the Kestral) This time when I dragged the lightnings to the Kestral, and boarded, the lightnings appeared as ammo. I repeated the process with the same result. My pilot now has 6 lightnings (worth 8.4 Mil on Akio or Earth, or Evildrome)

    • Moriarty, I did your idea, and I came out with 14 lightnings, that my friends, seems like the thing to do.

    • It's easier in EVO to get multiple escorts.

Just attack a UE Carrier in a UE Cruiser, disable it and take the 3 Fighters that
won't have gotten out since you have such tremendous firepower.

Or you could disable the UE Fighters and steal them. 🙂

So generally, games with more fighters but weaker ships are best.

    • Look, why would you want to have Lightnings? Get super powerfull escourts(Rebel Cruiser)
Than your enemy would perish even befor you lock on to it.It's beutifull.

    • Where can you hire a Cruiser? Oh wait, you probably have to complete their missions strings. D'oh!

    • OK I spent about four hours perfecting my method. The kestral launches lightnings at a target, you disable kestral, lightnings return you board and take lightnings, just does not work. It can work, but almost 8% of the time.
