    • Help: Ruby Munitions Mission

      I'm a newbie ... and I'm stuck.

I've gotten the Munitions Mission twice. On arriving in Ruby's system I blast away at 1 or 2 Confed Frigates and their fighters -- then my 'Vette's ammo is tapped-out. I jump 3 systems away to re-load (or use a Ruby delivery to reload there) and it's like starting over.

I've aborted the mission twice. The frustration only makes me more determined to succeed.

How do I IDENTIFY an "Executive Transport" so I can stop wasting my time battling all these
Frigate convoys? So far I have not even located the "transport."

      ------------------
Let's see what this button does....

    • An executive transport isn't a frigate- it's a small,sort-of-kestrel-shaped ships with no guns. And you have to land on the big, uninhabited planet to get the munitions.

      ------------------
I ask you to look both ways- for the road to the atom leads through the stars, and the road to the stars leads through the atom.

    • OK. First, to solve the ammo problem, outrum the Confed wimps and land on the big planet. Don't use all your missiles 'till you take off; you will need them to blow the Confeds away when you take off. Jump out of the system when no Confed Crusiers are about to arrive (they are FUN targets hehehe...) and take the mutions back to Clotho Prime. You'll need to deliver them all over the universe.

Also, I am a Colorado EV fan too, but it's all lonely out here in Virginia...

    • You COULD use up your missiles in an expensive and futile attempt to destroy the 'feds on take off. However, I recommend that if you want to do the rebel missions (any of the fighting ones) then you have the armour upgrades and the engine upgrades. You'll find that with speed and acceleration upgrades, and a missile jammer, the missiles are easily avoided. So just make a break for the border straight after take off, and the feds can't lay a finger on you. It's easy, really.

      ------------------

    • Entropy, I encountered the Kestrel-shaped Exec Transport on an assassination mission off
Palshife. Thanks for ID-ing it. I would not have recognized it.
Madman, I think you have this mission confused with one from OTHER than Ruby. I've been delivering that stash from Clotho ever since....
Cable_Guy, I learned (the hard way) the value of those upgrades. Karl is a "Black Belt" in "Track" ... if you know what I mean.
I'm STILL frustrated though. I've tried the Ruby mission again and still have yet to SEE
the blasted Exec Transport. (I know.) "If at first you don't succeed...."

BTW, that Diphidia/Astex Polution Mission has a SWEET payoff. Are there more of those elsewhere???

    • Since I have the day off, I'll play EV and see what I find about the ruby mission. I'll get back to you on my findings. This ISN'T the mission about capturing munitions from the stash on the planet, is it? Is this about capturing the prototype weapon? If it is, then you'll find the exec. transport in one of the uninhabited systems between ruby and the trugati asteroid belt (I think). It's because the transport is on it's WAY to ruby that you can't find it. I think I encountered it in Castor last time I did that particular mission.

other well paid missions? Well, the rebel alien mission (obviously) and also the pirate-fighting mission with that Lucas guy. I can't remember the name of the organisation. That pays well. Then again, when you have to fight 7 pirate Kestrels at once I should hope it pays well.

    • Thanks, Cable_Guy. No WONDER I cannot find him. He isn't THERE yet. 🙂 I will do a better job of hunting next time....

    • I know I'm not registered here(I haven't gotten around to it) and that i'm not very common, but I know the game very well. The rebel mission (astrodyne outpost) is a fun mission. i also found the exec transport in castor. the mission is very well worth the risk it poses (if you play 'strict'). the Diphidia/Astex mission is very rewarding as well, and i have taken the mission 3 time. it recurs every so often. the mission with the lucas guy and Artemis bros. has a decent payoff, but not really enough that i would take it more than once. the kestrels are annoying to blow up, escpecially with three or four of them after you. if you have any more questions, you can ask because i am close to dominating 10 planets. (believe me, taking planets over is fun!!!)

    • Yeah, the transport you are talking about was located in Castor (asteroids field). Since it is tagged 'Confed', it took me a while to disable it cause other random rebel ships were always shooting at it and destroying it.

    • Oh, if you're having fun domninating planets, try to take over all the planets in Sol! Start with Earth first...(HeHeHe!)

After jumping all over the crazy map (repeatedly) I finally encountered the transport on jumping into Castor (about the fifth time). One of my escorts -- a 'Vette -- BLASTED it immediately upon arriving. I'll probably get the mission again.... Thanks for the help.

BTW, I had given up on EVER finding the Alien Cruiser (after several visits throughout the
one-third of the map I understood to search). When I jumped into a system nowhere near where I expected to see it, I FREAKED when there it was. ...Let's just say I got my Rebel Destroyer "the old fashioned way." I EARNED it...!
