I like the corvette cuz it is really fast (a heavy fighter and at the same type a light warship), and a corvette with engine and maneuverability upgrades is simply great.
My favorite cruiser is undoubtedly the Rebel Cruiser cuz it's fast (again) for a Cruiser.

i think corvette...that is because i have taken on pirate kestrels and gotten my butt kicked...err...i mean i have KICKED the pirate kestrels butt...i think...ya...i think i did kick a kestrel's butt...disabled it anyway...i looted it...but then another pirate corvette killed me...because im inexperienced and this just proves that only another corvette can kill another corvette...i think...

I'm changing my vote to the Rebel Cruiser, which, after I've flown and found out that it can, with a missile jammer and speed and manÂœuvrability upgrades can even dodge both missiles and torpedoes, easily take a Kestrel on WITHOUT the Monty Python ManÂœuvre by taking out it's lightnings with the tractor beam and then pumping protons into the Kestrel. It can also easily take on Confederate Cruisers, Escort Carriers, Confederate Frigates, Corvettes again WITHOUT the Monty Python ManÂœuvre.

The Kestrel or Corvette. The Kestrel can have decent speed (with upgrades) and a LOT of weaponry. Corvette for its speed/manueverability and decent Weaponry. Here's a tip for Corvette pilots:
Sell the Laser Turrets. Buy a couple Proton Turrets. Get a Missile Jammer. Makes an awesome Corvette.

I'm going to vote for an upgraded Bulk freighter. Put 200 torpedoes into anything and the see who's laughing. Sure, fighters can catch it but with sheild upgrades and armour you can survive long enough to put some missiles where it hurts. With flares and afterburner nothing else can touch you. Maybe its not the best ship but with a decent pilot it going to take a lot of other ships to kill you.

Don't think so. With almost any GOOD ship being able to outrun a torpedo ( 'xcept probably the cruisers), you can beat this ship. Putting missiles in instead might help a bit, but will finally not save you from the inevitable.

I vote for the Rebel Cruiser or the Corvette (both maxed out of course) because there both quite fast especially if you invest in speed and engine upgrades.
The confed cruiser is just too slow. 
Once you have destroyer its fighters you dont need to bother about it because even Reb Cruisers (with engine upgades) can dodge torpedoes.
