      Has anybody seen aliens in open play, as in when you're not doing any of the alien missions for the rebels or confeds? It's just that after I completed the rebel special missions, I went to the south, to El Santo, and when I took off after fueling and a quick cup of tea, there was an alien fighter buzzing about the system, trying to kill me off. Not that it's difficult to kill an alien fighter - using the tractor beam to hold it in place just blast away with your proton turrets. I just wondered if anyone else has had this happen to them? ONe of the alien fighters escaped from the battle in the actual mission, so I s'pose that was the one, but I'm just interested to find out if anyone else has had this affect them?

    • that happend to me I just ignored it.
      i had a confed cruiser and didn't have a tractor beam so couldn't destroy it.

    • i'm too lazy to check where the bit is (and which bit, it's either 66 or 61, whichever one is common to both the rebel and confed missions), but the bit that's set when you do the alien missions makes either the alien fighter or the corresponding dude available. it has nothing to do with one of the fighters escaping, the ev engine has no way of knowing if the fighters died or not, it's just that the dude (maybe it's even a pers) becomes active after you do the mission. now that i think of it it'd have to be a pers b/c dudes don't show up unless they're in the system's choices (at least, i don't think they do). either way, it's something that's activated by the alien bit being set and can probably be fixed by a little one resource plug if it bothers you that much
