You have to complete the Alien Portal mission before you can buy the B.L. Unfortunately the Polarus Heavy Cruiser is the only ship with enough weapon space to accomodate the B.L. (it's 220 tons) The cloak is very useful, but not absolutely necessary, in attempting to disable Alien ships. When the aliens appear, cloak and scan for an Alien command ship, and/or a marauder. Once one of them is targeted, decloak and fire the B.L., and then recloak. Incidentally, these alien ships usually have a bunch of seeker drones, which sell on Achenar for about 6000 credits each (they're 8000 credits new) By the time your pilot has captured a command ship, or a marauder, he can be very rich.

If you're attempting to disable an Alien Command Ship, after firing the first shot, wait until the AC's shields are back up to about 45, and fire again. This should disable it. This gives the BL time to recharge, also, if you fire when the AC's shields are sufficiently much lower that 40, you will destroy it.To disable a Marauder, wait until the M's shields are up to 70, before firing the 2nd shot (its' shields recharge faster than the AC's). The 2nd shot should result in "shields down" for the M. Fire the 3rd shot when its shields are back up to 50 and this will disable it.
