On Sunday I spent 4 hours destroying The cruisers that make up Earths defence fleet - I didn't count every ship destroyed but in the last 30 minutes me and my escorts destroyed 121 ships - I then got bored and jumped to another system.
Does anyone know whether it is actualy possible to dominate Earth????
Yes, but there are 3176 ships protecting each planet in Sol.

It is tough and takes forever but it is entirely possible to beat Earth. Try launching all fighters and getting as many escorts as possible. It might not make it any sooner to win but it will make it easier.

Yes, but why would you want to? In stock EV, Earth and Stardock Alpha are defended by 3176 Confed Frigates each. Mars and Luna are defended by 3176 patrol ships and gunboats. What this is is BORING!!
Most of the other planets have only one or two types of ship, usually weak, in their defense force. Even though the numbers vary from planet to planet, there is not much challenge to blowing away Defenders or even Rapiers.
My solution to this problem was to make a little plug which modified the defense dudes (there are only about eight of them) to make them more unpredictable. Each dude resc has room for four different ships, so there is plenty of room for diversity.
I also modified the numbers for some spobs, some like Earth and Ruby were reduced, but some of the others were increased. No planet has more than 400 defense ships.
I also beefed up the Bounty Hunter (he's a pers resc, so its easy to do) and made him a pirate.
I've never published this little plug (named "Modified Defense Fleets"), but I can upload it if there is any interest.

you just need the super star destroyer i can give you the plug-in if you want it is restence to all types of wepons except the super lazer. the super star destroyer has one wepon the super lazer it can kill any ship in one hit. just to let you know you can put 20 turerts on it it has 3000 tons of free space and it has 2241 shelds and 2241 armor. e-mail me if you want it a jmfh77@hotmail.com
