In EV, NO PLUGS, NO CHEATS, what is the best STANDARD ship? Not talking about goverments or causes, just best ship.

What do you mean, I've got to get a life?

Best ship? There is no such thing. It's a matter of personal preference and style of play.

      ------------------

    • I agree with Joe Burnette here; it's a matter of preference and style of play.

However, that doesn't stop me offering a bit more of an in-depth look at the ships.

If you go for speed and maneuverability over strength, go for a defender . 😉

If you go for strength, buy a Confed Cruiser.

By the way, I'm not being serious.

      ------------------

    • The best ship compared to price/work is the Corvette with the following add-ons:

      3 expansions
      Two rocket launchers
      Four shield batteries+the recharger
      Armaplast+Durasteel
      4 proton cannons
afterburner + gadgets + an unortohodox amount of heavy rockets

    • Rebel cruiser with maneuverability addons.

    • best ship?

the escape pod. sure, there's no armor & no weapons & no cargo space, but it's faster than a cruiser, shuttlecraft, courier, etc. and it only costs like 5k!!! cozy seating for one, just don't get space sick.

    • Drew, you're new here, arn't you?

There is no one best ship. There are better ships for better causes, and it all depends on outfitting.

The best light fighter is the scoutship. I know it's meant to be a freighter but it can easily be converted into a fighter. Just add missles and armor.

The best heavy fighter is the Rapier. Get rid of the missles and heavy rockets and buy shield and armor upgrades and that thing can take out a confed crusier rather easily if you use good fighting methods.

The best freighter is the argosy. It is great for defensive combat, just don't get too headstrong unless you really upgraded it.

The best light capitol ships is the Rebel Destroyer, It's powerful, agile, and cheap.

The best heavy capitol ship is the Rebel Crusier. While the confed crusier always wins the AI battles, the Rebel Crusier is better for human players because it is usable out of the box. The Confederate Crusier is too slow and as a REALLY bad turing rate, so you would have to buy RCS and engine upgrades before using it.

The best overall ship is the alien fighter, but you can't get that unless you download a cheater plug or mess with EV data using ResEdit..........

    • The best chip is the scoutchip all upgraded whith a missile jammer and the maximum of proton canon shelds and armor. You can destroy easily a kersel but if you think that sheld is to low, a corvet is good with the same upgrades and maximum of turet.

I hate missles because it's to long to be billionair. With a kersel upgrade like that I made 14 millions in on hours by capturing pirates figters. and bording kersels and corvet.

      ------------------

    • I prefer the Confed Cruiser. Like people say, it is expensive, but if you worked for the rebels, and did the alien mission, buy a rebel cruiser, go out and make some planets pay tribute to you then take over 5 good escorts, then (this part takes a LONG time) take over a confed cruiser. If you have all that money from the planets that are paying you, it wont be a problem to get the RCS and other upgrades. It is stronger, and has TONS of room, its amazing. Then of course you will have to work for the confeds, so go and buy a "fake ID".

    • The most useful ship has to be the Destroyer.
Costs only a little more than a vette and with a few upgrades can best any ship in the game, with excellent speed & manoeuvrability plus the fact you can have 4 turrets

    • I have to agree with OctoberFest about it. Altough I think that the Corvete ia prety darn good overall vessel if you now what upgrades have done in it.
I recomend having an RCS done first thing.

By the way, I keep having this pesky message saying that the info I'm sending coild be read by unwanteds when I try to become a member, so I don't dare try.

Ooops. I noticed just before my computer crashed due to power failure. My apologies, I'm a little blind to round letters. besides, it does sound like fest. Sorry. Next time, let me buy you a sinthale.

    • My person opinion, i believe that the shuttlecraft is the best ship. It's fast, small, has decent cargo space, has 15 upgrade space, and can hide inside of big astroids. Not to mention, you start with it! This ship can outrun most of every weapon, and used correctly can defeat anything. Even taking down planets can end up not even making you break a sweat. And this is NOT cheating either.

    • The lightning can be fun but it has a tendancy to, um, die a lot so go for a rebel cruiser.

Hell people ask this a lot.

How. Weaselcrap. can you take down planets with this puny ship and NOT break a sweat. I mean, using a plug or sumthin' ?

I like the Lightning a lot. Fast with a good primary punch, and it makes a hyperspace jump in just one day. With the full upgrades it can do pretty much anything, although for some missions you have to sacrifice some of your weaponry for a cargo pod (then you have to cheat to get rid of it, or trade in for another Lightning). The most fun I had with either the aliens or T.A.G. You're It was in an outfitted Lightning. Flying a speed-upgraded Defender is a bit of a blast, but the Defender is really too lightweight to be reliable or broadly useful. Also, an upgraded Lightning is usually fast enough to get to, disable, and loot pirates before those pesky goverment ships come by and destroy your prize.

If you like using fighters, you have a reason to go for something big enough to carry them (which makes Kestrals kind of fun). Otherwise, a small ship is more fun and challenge than using brute force. It is true that you can die if you make a mistake, but that makes it worth playing. I found while flying a Rebel Destroyer with upgrades that I could just fly in, hold down the spacebar, wait, and then board my victim if I cared to. Not much variety or challenge in that.

I am not sure about the dominating planets part, but there are some ways to destroy big ships in a small ship, for example, the monty python maneuver. The legendary Ankh Starrunner destroyed a Alien Cruiser in a manta or shuttlecraft, or what the hell should I know. What I mean is that it might be possible. Also, there are planets with a rather laughable defensive force.

In the end, the Confederation will win, for the moronic AI helps their superiorly shielded ships.
