the way uplink was meant to be played

I found this really neat thing you can do that by puts a black border around the Uplink window. Although it might sound a bit silly (because you can set Uplink to 'full screen'), if you're playing the game in a window, with the desktop blacked out, all you can see is the blue interface elements and the window bar. It's practically mesmerizing. Here's how I did it:

  1. Get Uplink into windowed mode.

  2. Get Doodim. (It's free.)

  3. Launch Doodim, but don't tell it to do anything yet.

  4. Launch Uplink.

  5. In the menubar, set Doodim to black out the background.

  6. (optional, and only if you're playing at night) Turn off the lights and turn up the sound.

You will be hooked. Again.
