the way uplink was meant to be played
I found this really neat thing you can do that by puts a black border around the Uplink window. Although it might sound a bit silly (because you can set Uplink to 'full screen'), if you're playing the game in a window, with the desktop blacked out, all you can see is the blue interface elements and the window bar. It's practically mesmerizing. Here's how I did it:
-
Get Uplink into windowed mode.
-
Get Doodim. (It's free.)
-
Launch Doodim, but don't tell it to do anything yet.
-
Launch Uplink.
-
In the menubar, set Doodim to black out the background.
-
(optional, and only if you're playing at night) Turn off the lights and turn up the sound.
You will be hooked. Again.
