LAN Busting

I've been trying to hack the ARC LAN system and I managed to actually finish the mission only to be caught a few hours later even though I had removed all my logs and made it impossible to Passively Trace me. The Administrator kicked me off a few times but I never had an active trace completed on my computer. How did they end up catching me and if the admin kicks you off does that mean he's found my computer and basically has busted me. I'm kinda confused about how to download 70 Gigabytes of info without having the Admin get to my position in the LAN. Can someone help me with this and also tell me what ways I can get busted so I know to avoid those in the future. Thanks!

If the admin finds you, he'll just kick you off the LAN. You will only get caught by an active trace or a passive trace. It's just that another company may have already caught you.

That's the wierd thing though! I got caught and disavowed because I hacked the ARC LAN. I had an unauthorized systems access conviction added to my record, which I deleted, but when I fast forwarded a few hours I was disavowed. Anyway, I got the mission completed now but still it was wierd!

Well, if you managed to complete it, then just ignore it. But be careful, ARC will be launching Revelation now, and you're going to have a lot of virus on your hands.

Did you delete your logs after every time you were kicked off? Right away?

If not, that could explain it.

I just have my first bounce on a connection on internic because it doesnt trace and the password doesnt change, then once i have to dissconnect, quickly connect back there and delete the password and file access and bounce logs. impossible to get caught after that.

Make sure you dont delete your connect logs as the disconnect ones are made so it will look odd.

but heres a question.... even if you did delete your connection log, does it actually matter? i myself havent tried it, but i think i might not even matter... btw... Frame a user for computer crimes for hacking a LAN

It does matter, but very little
ewcept in the case you've linked, like, 6 times before the delog. Then I could tell the diff.

But that bombs Uplink, after X many hops, when connecting to a LAN...

Heh. I usually go pretty overkill on bouncing later in the game.

How many bounces are possible? I've got somewhere around 30, using all the public access servers and access terminals. I'd like at least twice that, if for no other reason than to give my crappy little Decypher 1.0 time to get into GCD. (can't afford a better one yet)

guys heres what you gotta do to get a lot of bounces. just connect to internic, go to browse/search, then take click on the plus sign next to the link and wa lah. you have a new bounce point.

and morpheus just get a level five monitor bypasser and a level 5 proxy bypasser and a level 5 firewall bypasser, do a trace recent blance transfer mission, get the account number and the ip of the bank and person who recieved the huge amount of money. go to the bank disable the monitor and proxy and go to transfer, put in your banks ip and ur account number (remember have this bounced through internic 1st) then put in 1000000 for amount and transfer. then at the same bank goto veiw statement and use you log deleter (4.0) to delete the log saying 1000000c was transfered to you. disconnect go to ur bank and account, goto veiw statement and delete the log saying you recieved 1000000c (remember to first have bypassed ur monitor and proxy) then disconnect, goto internic and delete the bounce logs. then go to internal services system buy a trinity then fast forward untill its already. go back and buy (3) 32 gq memory cards and one 8 gq memory card, (6) dual turbo 200 ghz processors and an 8 whatever modem. then u can hack everything muahhaahha muahahahah. now you need to do a favor for me. give me a complete walkthrough step by step on how to beat arc mission Darwin. ty
