How about the hacker-equivalent of Grand Theft Auto?
I'm picturing a massive game, where a skilled-enough hacker can do anything - book plane tickets, crash websites, drain bank accounts, prey on individual users or take on entire governments, order executions, rig votes, code viruses, and even destroy the world (Greetings Professor Falken). A world of cybernetics and AI. How about a game where winning or losing aren't just defined by "storylines"- heck, the game wouldn't be defined by storylines, period.
Uplink is a fun game of simulated digital chaos, but it's limited - there are two mutually exclusive storylines, and you can't do that much. How about an open-ended game where the ultimate goal isn't to someday rob a bank (and then it's game over). The game would be huge, it would have endless possibilities. It would be like GTA with computers.
Just an idea.
