This is much the same problem as one noted in (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum69/HTML/000093.html")this thread(/url) (and none of the suggestions there helped). Copying the test file from the file server has proved to be nearly impossible, and much too slow for me to want to try it in game play.

I can pick up the file after it's copied (clicking on the bar) and move it over to a big empty slot in the memory bank, but then only a frenzy of clicking, double-clicking, ctrl+clicking will finally paste it into the slot. I tried to speed this up by launching the tools I needed before connecting - big mistake. Allocating more memory to the copy_file app didn't help. (Nasty random broken redraw on the Software menu didn't help either, though restarting the game cleared that up.)

Any suggestions? For the specs, though I'm sure this is a user rather than a tech problem, I'm on a G4 Quicksilver 733, 620 megs of RAM, MacOS X 10.2.6. Standard Pro keyboard and mouse. I'm running at the next resolution under my screen res, but I'm not sure of the refresh rate (I have a 17" Studio Display). Nothing else is running, no system tweaks.

It's not your machine that's the problem. It might just be a glitch with your software, try downloading again from Ambrosia.

As for the tutorial itself. Make sure you bounce the connection at least 6 times through banks and the international stockmarket. Goto the InterNIC to get all of their IP's. Also, make an account at each bank and the stock market, you don't need any money to do so.

Finally, if you don't want to run the password cracker because it takes to long, type in admin in the user and then the password: rosebud. It will trace you, but only after you've hit proceed and not as soon as you run the password breaker. As for copying the file, run File Copier, click on the file you need to copy, then click on the little disk icon below, next to the $ sign icon, the computer icon, and the satellite dish icon. When you have to copy to a location, copy below one of the programs you already have installed on your gateway. That should all work with plenty of time to disconnect. Then, in the reply to the mission directive, include the file in the attachment. If the problem persists, write Ambrosia for tech support.

Actually, changing the refresh rate helped. However, once I got into the game and spent 30 plus minutes altering the same academic record over and over without success, I decided this was too much like real life for my taste. Thanks for the help, though.
