I really need some help!

I just recently downloaded Uplink and I plan to register soon but not unitl I get this question answered. Even though I have never been caught by a trace once I run out of missions and hit the fast forward button it gives me the whole junk about a huge corp. catching me and that I lose, whats up with this? Is it because I have left logs undeleted? Also, how do I increase my Uplink raiting if there are no jobs left and I cant get any more because my rating is too low? I'd really like help, this is an awesome game but if things like what I've just told you about keeps happening I dont know what i will do!

there is more than the trace with the beeping and all, there is also a passive trace, through system logs, u must keep the logs of your actions clear

when u connect to hack a place, go through Internic first
after any hack, except banks, go to Internic and delete the logs that say "user admin logged in" and "connection routed to..."
with banks, the FIRST thing you should do after gaining admin access is to delete the log that says admin logged on, or whatever
also, never connect directly to a modem, u will know what i mean when u register
always use a level 4 log deleter, the others one, especially the first can be traced still
follow these tips to prevent getting caught

That is of a lot of help but I have one question, how do I afford log deleter 4 when I just start out and barely have enough to get everthing I need to just make it through the test mission? Also, is that the reason that I kept losing my admin access after a while?

a) bounce through a system enough and you'll lose admin access... except for a couple of systems (such as the Uplink Test Machine)

for the first few levels of missions it's fine to use the lower-level log deleters... just as soon as you can afford a lev4 deleter, get it. the best investment you can make.

I'd also suggest asking for half-pay to start with. Accept several jobs like this, and you can afford the higher-level software.

here is one bug that you can easily exploit.

If you have ever noticed the comtact botton on the mission board, that button is your friend.

Find a mission, and contact them. One of the things you can ask is to have half or all your money now. Click "i want all the money now"

they will probably refuse. so what. say "no thanks" but now contact them again. ask for all the money again. if they refuse again repeat. The great thing is that about 1 in 5 or 10 tries they will eventually accept and you can get all the money before doing the mission. This is great if the mission is too hard to do then, and also great because you can get software for good mission earlier easly. I've never found a mission that wont give you all the money now after enough tries, it always eventually works.

Now even greater is a bug that you can exploit. Uplink does not save to files that you were prepaid for a mission(it saves it to ram). If you accept a mission and get prepaid, then quit uplink, but complete the mission on a later playing, you will get your pay in full. AGAIN. you can get double money from missions. You could also use cheat 2, but thats really cheating...

Cheat 2 does an absolutely wonderful, flawless job of crashing my computer. Every time I open it, the computer freezes up. Same results on every computer I've tried it on.

both work fine for me..(never actuly used cheat 2 but i can atleast open it)..only used the contact glitch if i buy a new gateway

Most of the time I only have to ask maybe 5 times on a mission before they accept full pay at start. Sometimes a particular mission will be stubborn and keep refuseing 20 times or more, the worst its ever been is maybe 40 tries, but its only tken that many once. I've never ever had a mission that didn't eventually accept full pay at start. NEVER.

Cheat 2 needs to run classic. I've no idea why it dosent work, but I'm guessing macs are just getting too new for a 68k coded program. I use 9.2 and it runs fine.

Cheat 2 doesn't work at all in OS X, no matter what, and it never worked for me in 9 either. It works great in my other computer running 7.6 though :).

Anyway, I like to get paid ahead of time, for as many jobs as possible, whether I can actually do them or not.
