    • Still having problems accessing LANs

      7 14 340

So here I am again, with missions involving destroying data on LANs and I can't even get access. I've made sure that my final bounce goes through one of the company's servers (tried access server, internal service machine) and I get the same 'You are using an external router' type of message and I can't even get access.

Thanks for any help anybody can provide,
      Lyle

    • The first thing that you need to do is use the proxy and monitor bypasses. You connect, then select the HUD_Connection Analysis. Use the bypasses and then go to the HUD_LAN Analysis (or whatever it is). From there, use LAN_Probe and LAN_Spoof to work your way through it.

      Hope this helps...

No, this isn't a mission where I have to hack a LAN. I simply have to get access to it and destroy data from the console (it's like a level 7 mission). I did it once before without having to use any of the LAN specific software. I got access, disabled the firewall/proxy, hacked the password and went from there. Now I can't even get past the 'You are using an external router' message.

Strange. All I usually have to do to access a LAN is to connect to it and press the LANview button when I get the external router message. Are you sure you're pressing the right button?

Have you tried using the Central Mainframe as the last bounce? That always works for me. The Public Access site isn't "internal" enough.

I'm surprised, though, that you are getting this message when using the Internal Services Machine. That one works for me too. And in a complex LAN with multiple phone numbers, the various access numbers all work for each other.

    • I've never found that you have to use a system owned by the same company, as the last bounce for hacking LANs. I thought that was only if you are hacking Central systems.

Also, if your mission is to delete data from a LAN then, you do have to hack into it.

I'll try routing from the central mainframe and see if that works.
      Thanks,

    • I'm just noting this in case someone does a search on down the line.

You do not have to bounce off of a server from the same company when connecting to a LAN.

I'm not sure what lylemcd's mission is all about. I suspect he/she is not looking at the LAN HUD Connection Analyzer when connecting to a company's LAN. I've never heard of being able to delete data from a LAN's main server without hacking into it first. If lylemcd is trying to connect to a Central Server then, the last bounce can be as simple as the company's public access server.

The mission was one of those 'Elite hacker needed to destroy system' types of things, but with the data on a LAN instead of a central mainframe. The type where you have to go in, get on the console, delete the cd usr, cd log and cd sys data and then shutdown the system.

Maybe I hallucinated it but I swore I got access to the password screen one time (previous game) without having the hack the lan.

I just installed the HUD analyzer and got v5 monitor and proxy bypasses. Connected to the lan, got the same 'external router' message screen, used the monitor and proxy bypasses and it just sat. Nothing happened and I'm still not sure what in the heck I'm doing wrong.

    • Now, you need to save up and buy the HUD LAN Analyzer, LAN Probe, Scan, and Spoof. It's all very expensive and takes up a good deal of memory. If you can't finish the mission right now, just come back to it later. It's not all that lucrative anyway.
