Uplink is a great game and all, but 2 frames per second is, well, you get the idea. Anything i could do to make it run faster would be greatly appreciated (Mod's, this is where you come in)

Maybe extract the graphics file to a folder? Perhaps the overhead of extracting graphics from compressed file will be eliminated.

Wait a second, its a .dat file! You cant extract those if you dont have a format file for it.

It's actually a zip-file. It seems that Uplink first checks a folder of the name graphics and then it looks inside the graphics.dat file. So you can expand it the dat-file or override it with a mod.

I beleive it runs faster in OS X than in 9.

Quite true. Unfortunately, if you're running OS 9, there probably isn't much you can do to speed it up.

Is there any reason why it runs slow? I mean, it is a really simple game with virtually no graphics whatsoever, seems like it would run fine on a 386...

It is actually very OpenGL intensive, which means it does eat up a lot of CPU and a lot of your video card, too.

Ok, i extracted it but it still wont read the folder, and it wont run without the .dat file.
Mabye someone (moderators-try this one) can write a plugin to make it use the folder?
