Ok, I'm having this serious problem with passive traces. I delete the logs at the site I'm hacking, as well as at the Uplink Test System, as well as anywhere else I have admin access. Oh, and just for reference, I'm just doing the hack a database and delete all files thing right now. I haven't registered yet, and I still haven't decided if I will, Is it worth it?

Also, why does Uplink drop your rating for unsatisfactory work? how can I avoid that?

You really don't need to delete the logs in ALL of the places... you only need to delete them at one of the servers you connect to. This should be either InterNIC or the Uplink Test Server, which should be your first jump. Also, you only need to delete the "Connection routed to..." and "Admin access granted" logs.

For your second question, YES, it's very worth it. There are a lot of missions and other things you can't do without registering.

For your third question, Uplink drops your rating for unsatisfactory work because... well, your work is unsatisfactory, and companies want to hire qualified hackers. The way to avoid this is to not do unsatisfactory work... sounds simple enough, right?

I've been having the same problem. I stole some money from a bank account, the went to the interNIC and used Log_Modifier to change the log so it looked like it was routed from the Credits Machine. 5 minutes later I was caught.

I think log modifier only doesnt get you caught when you are framing someone, since log undeleter can unmodify logs too
