I am a computer science student, too. I find this game fun, although I am VERY disappointed by the level of realism in a certain way.
There is almost nothing to be done in the command line and those few commands which function there mimic their DOS counterparts, not UNIX. This game would be SO MUCH COOLER if all the visual candy and UI elements were implemented in the commandline (side-by-side, there is no need to remove the visual counterparts, this would ruin the game for most people). The commands also should have been more UNIXish, with less descriptive names and with -switches etc. This game is a lot of pointing-clicking-pointing-clicking, choosing-from-menu, clicking again etc.

I don't think the government would appreciate people learning to hack at a realistic level from a game. Besides, real hacking is harder and less fun.

Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordian.
"You're dumb." -Rawzer to whitedevil and whitedevil2
The game is based on Hollywood style hacking, so there are only vague references to real life.

Sure. This was just to say that as a computer science student, being a UNIX administrator for a few years, I would welcome the option to have SOME of the cool of the UNIX command-line IN ADDITION to the hollywood-style hacking. You don't have to recreate the whole shell functionality, but having 'dir' instead if 'ls' is just insulting. Nobody will be hacking DOS systems in 2010.

It's just a game. And a good one at that.
