    • Odd looking IPs (phone numbers?)

      6 8 301

Twice now I have run across odd looking ip addresses in logs.

There were two of them in the internic log, and one of them in the logs of a computer I was destroying. All listed as having accessed a file. (Does internic =have= files?)

The first two looked like this:
      (05887) 473689

I think the third one looked more like this:
      06569.520299

Either way, they just looked funny to me. Anyone know what these are?

That is, indeed, a phone number. They come in handy when you want to hack a bank and need to pass a voice authorization. 🙂

    • well I've got three of them now. I wonder if IP lookup will identify them. Hmmm.

    • When ever you run into a mission where you need to infiltrate a mainframe, LAN, or a bank, you'll need to use a voice authorization. Only way to get these is to find the admin's phone number via the company's public server.

So, yes they are phone numbers and they become very crucial near the end.

Also, don't forget that you will still be traced externally(after you hang up). Or at least I believe so. So ensure you delete all the logs tracing back to you. ie. Internic logs.

    • Well this is interesting.

One of those phone numbers belongs to someone that I have a mission about .. they want me to look into his financial details.

Makes me wonder if I should skulk around in logs more often, and see what other interesting things come up.

    • I haven't been able to find phone numbers anywhere. Where can I get them?

Some public access servers have the mainframe's admin's number, and all banks that I've seen have had their admin's number in the "about us" section...

    • Those numbers could also be external links to LANs... but you wouldn't find that on Internic.
