Well, after slaving since around 2 am last night, I managed to put together a semi-working beta of RedshirtX, the solution to all your Mac Redshirt needs that you may or may not know how to use. I won't include a usefulness guide, as it is really not in a position for actual use... Anyway, it's all in the readme.

Aah, let me elaborate just a trifle- REDSHIRT is an encryption method used for various Uplink data files. Those of you browsing the Introversion forums may find references to it. But again, I'd reccomend NOT using this version for anything serious.

Well... The data files for uplink are just zip archives, but a few are redshirted to stop people from hacking them too easily. It was meant to be broken- the name "REDSHIRT" is just a trekkie joke, i.e. the red-shirted crew members who inevitably die within the episode.

My program is simply a GUI encryption/decryption tool.

Which data files are encrypted with Redshirt? When I tried, I could just simply unpack the data files with Stuffit Expander. They appear to be simple zip files to me.

Well, it would appear only data.dat is encrypted... Maybe someone got lazy. However, user files are also encrypted. You can tell by the "REDSHIRT�" header.

Also, it's important to remember that they're zip archives , not compressed files.
