Yes, Nova is out, and it looks like fun. I grabbed it and took a quick look at it the other day for an hour or two, and then had to jump back into beta testing for pop-pop, which is also looking very good now. Hopefully soon.

well its got some pretty nice graphics but there seems to be a lot of trouble getting the missions to work and some really WEIRD missions too... You really aren't supposed to be able to do much until you register I guess.
Well I like EV origional the best I guess, but Nova is way cooler than Override
Its spring break... I think I'll make a level set for Avara now.

Yes, EVN is out, and I fear that may almost spell the doom of the Avara boards. But, who knows. Maybe somebody out there will come out with Aftershock II or something. You never know.

Well, the Avara webboard may die (actually it's been comatose for some time), but Avara will live on. I, at least, prefer Avara to EV: Nova. Until they come up with an EV that can be played online, it will never compete with Avara for it's ability to entertain endlessly. It's fun, but not as interactive, and the only way to change that would be to make a near-infinate set of unique mission strings. After a while you get tired of the same old cargo runs, mission sets and worn-out TC ideas, and climb back into your HECTOR to blast away at your familiar Avara friends. Or I do anyhow.

I think so, Brain, but if they called them sad meals, kids wouldn't buy them.
It may be slow, but I believe the Avara board will remain until more than 50% of the playing computers out there are running OS X. Only then would there be a reason to not have this board running anymore.
Closing topic - messages have wandered a bit off topic.

I actually think there will be a backlash against networkable games. They've about worn out what one can do with that format too.

nah EV's no fun after youve done the missions, because its always the same damn thing, the same AI
but you play avara its different every time because you're playing against other human beings
so i say, whats up man..... I think you got it completely backwards, most of ambrosias games are fun for a few minutes once in a while (the arcade ones) or a few days (EV series) but Avara is always good. At least origional EV starts out with a big blast and exciting music and some dude commanding his rebels into battle, cant go wrong with that, but EV Nova starts out with the sorta 'mysterious' music which reeks of weird sci-fi adventure novels which i think is a little repulsive.. well its a sick game but Im sayin its just regular EV with a new look and a bunch of new missions but it sure gets to be a drag pullin the same dang tricks on those computer space ships every time
i think ambrosias got the best shot with their games like EV cuz all the little boys are like 'whoa' and get theeir mommies to register, but its really their light hearted games that people enjoy , like maelstrom and junk but, hell people wouldnt pay money for those games (?).. and avara probably doesnt sell too well, but if those blokes out there realized what a sick game it is, if they actually got to try out some of the gnarly levels made by Malkavian and Tyrant, Plastic Chicken.. silverfox.. and didnt get discouraged intially by the simple graphics of the game, got themselves in a really good set of battles , they wouldnt get the wrong impression, and theyd realize that avaras the best game ambrosia's got

-kŁŁmE-: hmm i will do some more thinking latre tonightmaybe,
-kŁŁmE-: if my brain is up to it
Most of those points could be made exactly from the other side.

its about playin against another human being man... thats why u have more fun playing chess against a variety of different opponents rather than someone who always makes the same moves (a computer)
i had a blast playing some bolo last night, and that game is old but its always good fun... the internet connects people from all around the world, this is a gigantic resource to expand your mind and challenge yourself with trying to outsmart an intelligent lifeform in a game of strategy.

That point could not be made from the other side. While I don't agree, it's all about personal preference.

The opening music for EV:Nova is from Holst's "Planet Suite". I don't remember which; Jupiter I think. Anyhow, I think it's cool.

Which have the same problems as the game, and are often worse. There is still a finite number of missions to complete. There are very few good TC plugs, and even those can't keep you busy much longer than the original scenario.
