Well, as long as you match every Sal gunship with an Aud cruiser, you're set. You've got a resource advantage of about 6 per gunship/cruiser. You can use those extra resources to add some extra punch to your fleet.
Carriers, unfortunately, are inefficient against a Sal fleet; the fighters (= extra targets) may help your strategy, but most Sals concentrate on gunships, which are designed to wreck carriers. A much better bet would be a core of gunships, which you can use to mop up enemy gunships while you manoeuvre in for an HVD duel.
Unfortunately, if you lose the HVD duel, I'd guess that your fleet is pretty much shot. With a player HVD wreaking havoc on it, you'd soon lose your unprotected gunships - and your cruisers are a distraction, not a fighting force. If you win the duel, you should end up winning the battle, probably with minimal casualties.
In other words, if you can pilot well, you're really better off taking Auds. If you can only macromanage, you should probably take Salrilians.
