      BETA ETA: This Weekend.

The bottom half of the Gaunlet is now complete! The beta release date has been pushed back, however. I have now begun work on the top, this should go much faster.

Back to the nearly completed Gaunlet for me!

    • Bug- In MMT at the end where there's the big door if you go through it twice in a row you freeze and lose control of the controls.

Hey Ent! Where'd you get your second karma?

    • There's no bug in MMT, what are you talking about. That's crazy talk. ::Begins to slip into a Simpson's quote, but saves himself:: Don't worry, that bug was fixed quite some time ago.

I don't think it is appropriate to discuss karma on this boards. 😉

If you are courious about the next Extemporaneous, Overrider, read on...

Extemporaneous 0.4 will be beta-ed this weekend. Hopefully, but doubtfully, there will be no bugs. The next version will therefore be released to the public, around the St. John Baptiste Day. It will contain the following levels:

      • Yttrotantalite- some minor changes have been made (DONE)

      • Flight and Plight- many technical changes made, now easier (DONE)

      • Magical Mystery Tour- completely functional (DONE)

      • Fameuse- battle a dreadful pair of monsters in the freezing semi-secret level of Fameuse (DONE)

      • The Kingdom of Queen Mab- enter the kingdom of Queen Mab and join forces with her people, the Mildroni to battle the Goblins (DONE)

      • The Gauntlet- fight your way through the Gauntlet to find the missing Mildroni Shard (64.29%)

Back to the Gaunlet for me!

    • ::MonsterLady leaps for her calendar, but Emperor Ent beats her to it:: "June 24th!" he exclaims.

Glad you like Extemporaneous. I shall try to describe the Gaunlet. The bottom half is complete and the top contains 6 parts. 2 of those parts are now done. This level is tremendously huge and a lot of fun. Good luck.

Back to the nearly complete Gaunlet for me. 😄

    • Good news! Tommorrow, I will be sending Extemporaneous 0.4 to be beta tested by the following people:

      Beta Testers:
      ferazel_09
      MonsterLady
      Zelda
      FerazelFreak

(OZMO: I know you wanted to beta-test. But, know that you have your own world, do you think it is appropriate? Your call.

I will test the Gaunlet myself, then send it out to celebrate John Baptiste Day, and the one week anniversary of my birthday.

Back to testing the Gaunlet I go!

Ohh..cool. I should tell you that I'm leaving for a ten day vacation shortly, but I shall do my best. I have access to a computer for some of those days.

Oh, my goodness! What a bunch of goblins there are!

Actually - is the background supposed to move the way it does? It seems like there is something wrong - seems to be a break in the background and different sections are moving around and is very disconcerting (gives me vertigo).

Now - must get to "real" work.

    • I know I need to work on that. It made me dizzy constantly. But imagine this, it has improved since the beginning. 🙂

I will try fix that quickly. Sorry.

      MonsterLady:
Did you finish it already? What did you think?

    • Finish it already? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

      In other words: No.

So far is very interesting. Lots of challenges & well hidden secrets. Haven't exited yet to find out how many I've missed.

Good save spots (I know when I find a save spot I am usually about to die). Haven't been able to navigate the cannons to get to the transporter.

All in all a good level, so far. Will let you know if I get too frustrated (visualize a PB soaring through the air as indication of frustration).

I think I have fixed the background problem. I am adding more BG Tiles and Scenery yo make it more attractive

    • I'm still exploring, so don't know where I have been! (I guess I could cheat and use Mascot to look at the level, but figure cheating is poor sporting.) Will just muddle through for now.

That's why it is hard for me to test my own levels. I know where I am and where everything else is. Thanks again MonsterLady.

    • Two questions & a bug:

      1. HOW do you get to the spell right at the beginning of the level. I can see it, but can't get to it. (Okay, you don't have to tell me...)

      2. There is a spot where to activate a button a boulder has to be rolled into the horizontal opening. I can't get the boulder to go in far enough! There is a generator (of some type) above. Is it supposed to generate more boulders? Does it need to be "turned on" somehow? (Another button someplace else?) Is there another way?

      3. Bug - The area with the four passageways - the second door - when I'm finished and go onto the transporter that takes me back to the beginning of that section, I am transported into the wall below and to the left of the doorway. Get stuck there & can't get out!

That's it for now - very challenging! Can't get one door open!

1.) Have you beaten the level?
2.) I believe the button can just be fired at. The Boulder is just there to confuse people. It even fooled me once.
3.) Hmm, I will look into that. It is supposed to take you onto the bridge.

    • I looked into it and...
That is quite a nasty little bugger of a bug. But consider it squashed.

I have just sent out an e-mail with a link to the latest version of The Gauntlet.

Various bugs have been fixed. Various secrets have been added. Various areas have been made easier.

I have run into a big problem, however. I had hoped to increase the size of the Gauntlet, but it appears I can't. MASCOT will only allow 511 sprites per level. :frown:

    • First version was too hard (IMHO). Need more purple pools or health potions or rez necklaces to make it through. More fireseeds would be helpful too.

After too many deaths running in acid I finally cheated and gave myself some rez necklaces courtesy of Ferazedit. While I was at it I gave myself a few extra fireseeds. But otherwise didn't cheat (sort of like saying you're only a little pregnant).

Okay - I cheated. Got 98% enemies and 100% everything else.

Got through finally and .... ignore those first two questions on my previous post.

Just received the latest version so I'll go through and look for bugs, etc. and see if it is too hard (for this player).

    • I will make another update soon. With more health, or pools. Mind you by the time you get to this level you will have a fair amount of fireseeds, health potions, and up to 3 Rez Necklaces. I will make it even easier though. More secret purple pools. I have to be careful though. Everytime I add something, I have to delete something.

      MonsterLady:
I reccommend you wait before playing. I will put out an even easier version very soon.
