Oh, I found that one. I hope you don't make it toooooooo easy! I'd suggest just a xichron or two in the appropriate place.

    • Don't worry, it will just be mildly easier. I want to keep it the hardest secret in the level and/or the game.

    • Alright..I found it. No..don't make it easier. I had figured out where to look and all..I just had been firing on the wrong wall. ::sigh:: I had a mental block. That's what we'll call it. So my opinion is that you shouldn't add a hidden xichron or anything else. I feel rather silly I didn't find it earlier. Geesh, just turn around and fire at the other wall, duh.

    • I fixed the secret room to be slightly easier to find, without using Xichron or sign hints.

      The Gaunlet:
      1/8th complete, routes undone
This is a very difficult level it has 8 sections, tons of monsters, traps, difficult areas, and a Goblin Chief. I've decided not to make it timed, though.

I hope to finish this level over the holiday weekend, meaning I will send out the next beta Mondayish. If all goes well Extemporaneous 0.4 can be released soon.

      0.5:
      Illusion of Reality
      Tower of Perplexity

      0.6:
Scorched Earth (this level will come after MMT)
Perilious Peaks (after Tower of Perplexity)
      Halls of Crapulence

      Final:
      End Game

I will post later tonight if I make significant progress.

      What's Famuse?

Where is the "secret room" in the 1st level with all the goodies? I found the Health Crystal it's that one the Geroditus (different name though) talks about with Ferazel's father

In level 2 where is that guys "house"?

Famuese is the semi-secret ice level which pits you against a boss. I believe it has been fully beta'd. There is a secret exit in Magical Mystery Tour which leds to it. If you go to the far bottom left of the screen and continue through the passages, it will take you to an exit and the level.

I just realized that you are not a beta tester, and therefore can not reach the level to begin with. But fear not! Sometime next week (hopefully) I will release the latest version of Extemporaneous to the public. This will contain Famuese and 2 other brand new levels.

To get to George Harrison's House, you must take many teleporters and press many buttons. If you are always alert for secrets you will find it.

Should his room be easier to find?
I never got an answer about the overall difficulty, to easy, to hard? How difficult should future levels be?

Back to the Gaunlet for me.

    • I like the difficulty of your levels.

There are lots of things to find, and it is challenging in that the route to an area is not always the most obvious way.

You have plenty of save spots, and that reduces the endless repetition of mindless tasks.

It is possible to get tantalizing glimpses of the secret areas, so it is a challenge to find those spots, but not impossible to guess they are there.

I hate levels that have secrets hidden out of sight, so that only by wandering around, aimlessly firing at all walls and ceilings, and endlessly spin jumping can 100% secrets be found. I think this is the secret to a good level - let us know something is there to be found, and then make us figure out how to get to it.

There is a certain feeling of satisfaction at the end of a level of getting 100% on everything.

      How's that for feedback?

    • Thank you very much. It is hard for the creator to gauge the difficulty of his levels. If I play them I know exactly what to avoid and where to look, thereby removing the fun. I will try to continue level difficulty at this pace.

Back to the Gaunlet* for me!

*The bottom half of the map is now 90% done. 😄

    • I am not sure if anyone has been reading the corrupted file topic. But... the world file I was working on was corrupted. All the changes I have made since the last post are gone. That means the bug fixes and the Gaunlet are gone. I will start over today. Hopefully, I will be back on track very shortly. This is very depressing, but has taught me to always back-up my files.

Back to the beginning of the Gaunlet for me. :frown:

Chalmers: Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? A this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?
      Skinner: Yes.
      Chalmers: May I see it?
      Skinner: No.

    • mmm..I have found a couple of interesting bugs...but nothing that interfers with game play. In the first level, where you find the silver key...you get 99 of them. In Flight and Plight I still somehow end up with the blue key at the end so that I don't need to buy one at the beginning of Magical Mystery Tour. Also..is there way to flag that conversation with Gil? Continuing to have to tell him no, I don't want to buy a key when the door is standing wide open is slightly annoying. Just slightly. 🙂 As MonsterLady said, there are several places in MMT where you can fall through holes that shouldn't be there.

I also like the stable platforms in Fameuse and didn't find the level too easy to complete at all. I thought it was pretty darn difficult. And it was very nice to buy a pretty necklace. I did. 🙂 I think that helped tremendously.

Great levels...I'm sorry you're having trouble with your files now. I hope you can get it fixed.

Okay that's wrong! I found it and what you did is wrong you drown the poor guy

Did you make this?? I like it

My very first EVO Chronichle called "The UE's Dread" Followed by the "U.E.S. Inconvertrable" Then "What Happened to Huron" finally "Ontario the Azdara"
      What do you think?

    • Are you upset because crime doesn't pay? 😉 Well, I hope you learned you lesson, and remembered to save. The next version will be slightly different, not harder or easier, just different.

I just remade my previous corrections to the levels preceeding the Gaunlet. Hopefully, I remembered them all. The Gaunlet has also been inputed from the image map, but I have only begun to add and refine the level.

Back to the Gaunlet for me.

    • Soon! How soon? Very Soon!

*Soon is a relative term. Think big, a few years is nothing in terms of mankind's evolution. 😉

Actually, I am still working on the Gaunlet ::insane laughter:: thegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunlet thegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunlet thegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunletthegaunlet!

It should be sent to beta sometime after Flag Day. Then a week or so after that, I will release the greatest Extemporaneous ever!

Flag Day? What is Flag Day??

MonsterLady runs around the house looking for a US calender.

"Ah ha!" she exclaims "June 14th!"

    • The first sector of the Gaunlet is now 90% done. Meaning that the level is now 10% done! There are some delightful secrets in the first sector. What spell you you want to gain the most in the Gaunlet?
By the time you reach the Gaunlet you should have the following weapons:
      Dagger
      Ice Pick
      Fireball
      Boomerang
What should the next spell be? I think I will add the Statue spell does that sound good? I do not want to add the Ice Wall or Tree Trunk Spell ever, I am afraid that they may make previous secrets or areas easier, I will have to check. The V-Blade spell will be released in a distant level down the road.

Back to the Gaunlet for me.

I fixed the Ice Ground problem, it should just be slippery now. And you now recieve money rather than a key.
