    • Sound problems

I am trying to use recorded sounds in coldstone. I'm using the Sound Studio app that comes with OSX and I am saving them as aiff's just like it says but it won't play them inside my game. I just recently checked the full format of the basic sounds you start off with and they were saved as aiff-c files in mono and with ima4:1 compression and now I have saved mine like that but they still don't work! What the Smeg is going on?

    • I haven't gotten to the sound stage in my game, but I have a few suggestions: First make sure that the file will play in quicktime, iTunes, etc. Then make sure its in the "Sound" folder in your game project folder. Finally, try changing the extension to .aif and see if that works. If the problem persists try using a different format (does CS support .wav?).

    • APPENDIX A File formats
      Coldstone supports various media formats.
      Sound formats
Coldstone uses a high-speed cross-platform sound player. It actually supports only the AIFF sound
format with IMA encoding and mono channel. There is SoundApp, a very good Macintosh
application available out there that can help you easily convert sounds in this format.

This is from the CS manual and it says exactly what I have done but it still doesn't work and all the sounds that come with the Medieval base are like mine except shorter in length.
And the file exstention is .aiff already.

    • Yes, the default is .aiff, try .aif (one "f). Also make sure that the sound has not moved since you linked it the animation, event, etc. which plays it. Also, if it is the Music folder instead of the Sound folder CS treats it differently.

    • I'll try .aif but I haven't moved it and it is in sounds folder.
But it doesn't explain why coldstone works with the medieval sounds when they are .aiff.

      Welcome to the boards!
As for the topic, I have played around with Sound Studio, and havn't had any luck. If none of the help you get here is any good, then, depending on what your recording, you might want to try searching for something on the net that is similar and not protected (copywright, etc.), or if it's something like a voice, you could just try messing about with the voices on your computer.
