    • This one would make a good signature:

Daravon's Law: Bad translations are always funnier than the "jokes" in good translations.

From the ' RPG Cliché Dictionary '.

      ------------------

    • "Mother of All Cliches, the. In every single RPG, without exception, you are trying to save the world.

Grandmother of All Cliches, the. In absolutely every single RPG (except BOF3), you are trying to defeat a bad guy."

not in my RPG man, muahahahaha (<-evil laugh)... 'cause in DarkRising, you ARE the bad guy, and you try to destroy the world...
I admit though that your cliches page is providential since I intended to put as much cliche as possible about the relaionship badguy/goodguy in my parodic RPG... hehehe

How's progress on DarkRising going? How far have you gotten? What will become of it ?

    • Thanks for caring :))
well, it's progressing at a regular pace 🙂
I'm writing the script (meaning mostly the dialogs), programming it as soon as it has been corrected (the game will be in english and I m french... so there will be TRANSLATION jokes, LOL, yeay I m part of the cliche world)
The graphics are about to be finished (somehow 3/4 right now), I ve got a good idea of how the story will evoluate... My musician/sound "programmer" will come here for some 2 weeks on holydays.... he ll work on sounds and music full time until we ve got them all.... all the caracters including the good and unique ORANGINA have been implemented both on normal AND worldmap :))
I even have a taunt spell for the orangina for the battle engine :)) lol... (you can have an idea of how he taunt on my page... I added yesterday 2 animated gifs of him taunting in loop)
I don 't give much details about the progress and no more betas becaus i'd like to keep a bit of "suprise" and humor for the final version... there is nothing worse than seeing a film because you liked the trailer, and discover that 90% of the film/jokes/interest was in the trailer... :)) see what I mean?
by the way, I havn't heard much about your own project, though you re very active on the forum 🙂

    • I loved the cliche list. I have found that my game does includesome of the cliche's on the list. I did note that there was a lack of mentioning Dragon Warrior 3 which did cycle between day and night and stores did close at night.

My game is moving along slowly. I wrote another 4 pages yesterday. The script is getting there, but I am finding it a little difficult to tie up all the nessecary loose ends.

I should have a more detailed report posted in mid July.

      Pedrith 🙂

Good to know the game is moving along.
      i agree.

      what's my progress;
      a t one point i got my g a me to a level of stability a n d teste d all manner of scenario...i cleared that o u t
      i've changed so m e interface e l ements of the gam e and this will likely be o n tomorrow's agenda. i'm taking a different approach to the image of the game( " ! " * )

The previous mechanics of the game were solid, but baseline to say the least. So i thought i'd revisit my notes, all 30+ individual, poorly organized, one of 'm. I spent about a week polishing that.

Ive also had to scrap several e nvironments due to their comp l exity, they wi l l resurface in a "SuperMariobros2. fashion" in full (dim or igame)3D.

Actual progress, i ' ve completed the art for 3/8 environments. All the concepts are finalized.
The only problem now is finding the time to complete the art, hopefully my new work space/computer which has been delayed 'til some time today, (infernal fedEx man didn't knock and they won't let me recieve it directly from the sorting facility) will speed up my production.

its not an RPG, its not really a sequel, its addictive.

    • You like to go to the library with a red marker, head to the childrens section and circle waldo, dont' you ?
Better yet stand in line at the grocery store and fill in crossword puzzles and put them back?
would you be a pal and not blow that one, that way someone could see that in about a week and still take their mind for a jog.
'sides you missed a quotation mark.
I'm be sure to put as many 1/100th of a second frames of propaganda in my game

invidiual discovery, learning, safely fostering the natural instinct of investigation. I mean evereyone would have gotten it eventually if they cared, if they overlooked it cool, then they' get a total suprise when its released...geez faulty-shorted out-electric blanket guy.

    • Yo Ell... you were talking about making a game in 3D, maybe using iGame3D... I m not sure about this one... I tested it, found quite impressive concerning the scripting and the environnement, but was then cooled off by the way it "killed" my processor... it was so slow for so small maps.... I don t think one can make a game with it in its current state... not willing to make some advertisement but I looked a bit into things like that 'cause I'm already thinking about a Darkrising2 in 3D which would have nothing to do with the 1st, and the best I found 'till now is Torque... well, this one is 100 dollars though but it looks like it s worth it, and the community behind seems quite larde so you can expect support (such as forums, tutorials, 3d models, textures, scripting examples...).
if you don t know about Torque, here is the official link: (url="http://"http://www.garagegames.com/pg/product/view.php?id=1")http://www.garagegam...t/view.php?id=1(/url)
if you already know about it just let it drop 🙂

:: clamps release, pallette thuds to the floor ::

as far as their scripting language, being based upon C++:
I think i might have a problem keeping my C++ and my C++-Like straight when i'm on the clock. Either way they're (url="http://"http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/lion.asp")Lion and Unicorn(/url) to me.

      iGame3d, DIM3
They may not be Torque..but they're my friends, and i think i'll see them through.

    • Much nicer formatting than the older versions of this list that I've seen, ell. Nice design. I have to ask, though, were you able to contact Fritz Fraundorf to get his permission to use the list?

Thanks, (but did you notice the pure raw efficiency lurking behind the pretty face? The total lack of the word font anywhere in the entire document, the removal of which incidentally brought the document down from 130k to 58k!? The complete and total compliance with HTML 4.0 transitional specifications!!??) i try.

      (url="http://"http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/css/")CSS is king(/url).

Unfortunately, theGIA, dissolved and i was not able to trace him at the spinoff, gameForms. However, my pride won't be hurt if i recieve a cease and desist, i'll gladly bundle it up and store it in the crypt.

Heh, I agree completely - CSS is cool - heck, that's the same reference site I use in my infrequent attempts at web design. Though I must ask, what's with your class naming scheme? I don't find "daochi," "urp," "hu," and "ra" to be very meaningful names, though apparently you do. 🙂

When i do outside work, everything is well commented, documented, clearly and plainly labelled, and very capable of being maintained by the custodian.

it'd be a whole nother story if i didn't know what i was doing. I don't even need the names to tell which is which. I just have a little fun, some of its; symbolic, alluionary, completely random.
