I noticed a couple of posts about 3D software and didn't know if everyone was aware of the free 3D software out there. As was noted, Lightwave 3D and Maya have free learner software for download. However, you can't make anything for sale from these (unless you buy it).

Also, I have run across a couple others that are free, but don't know the limitations of the software or of the licensing agreements. It seems that they are fully free.

One is POV-Ray at (url="http://"http://www.povray.org/download/")http://www.povray.org/download/(/url)

another is Strata3D at (Strata3D used to be for sale for a good chunk of money) (url="http://"http://www.xonko.com/Shockwave3DLab/3d_soft/3dsoft_free.htm")http://www.xonko.com...3dsoft_free.htm(/url)
(xonko.com gives some advice on how to use these programs together to make it work)

AMAPI at (url="http://"http://amapi.idevgames.com/")http://amapi.idevgames.com/(/url)

PIXELS 3D at (url="http://"http://www.pixels3d.com/")http://www.pixels3d.com/(/url)

UVMapper at (url="http://"http://www.uvmapper.com/")http://www.uvmapper.com/(/url)

a mac DXF->OBJ converter at (url="http://"http://www.xonko.com/Shockwave3DLab/3d_soft/3dsoft_free.htm")http://www.xonko.com...3dsoft_free.htm(/url)

Maybe everyone already knows this, but thought I would post it. There is probably more out there that I'm not aware of too.
