    • Something I noticed about Ares.....

I noticed how easy all those "hard" missions really are.
      For example:
When the objective requires you to land on an enemy planet and there is something (e.g. asteroids, planets, stations) in the way you can just go around it and they will completely ignore you. (You need to escort the transport around, but bring 3 or 4 to ensure sucess) Then you order you entire force at your planet to launch at the enemy planet, they get there and blow everything up and you land capturing their planet and win even though huge amounts of enemies still remain.

Also how easy Mission 19: You should have seen what got away, really is. All you do is build a couple gunships then lots of cruisers. Fight off the first few attacks then take a transport to the main enemy system. take whatever casualites you need to. The gateship won't attack the transport unless nothing else is there, so you just land and then all they can build is cruisers and fighters. you let them sit in orbit around your system and you kill whatever they launch, then you make two more transports and capture their bases. And then have every planet making cruisers and have them all blow up the gateship, and you won, bango!

I think I'd have to point out that that method drains all the fun out of playing.

I have a plan so ingenius even an idiot could have devised it. On my command, we will line up our ships and fly straight into the enemy death-cannons clogging them with wreckage.

    • There's no such thing as a hard level to the default ares scenarios, unless the person playing is a complete newbie. I only play plugs nowadays, mostly ones I've made for myself.

    • yes, it's very easy to "legally" cheat in Ares, especially to do things like take control of your transport and go around your enemies, but yes, it definitely drains all the fun out of it. Though the AI in Ares may be stupid there, in combat the AI in Ares is far superior to the AI in EV or EVO. The ships actualy turn and make movements rather than just going in a straight line.

    • I find it disheartening that even with the above stated all being true, people still ask for cheats to help them out of the "tough" levels...

It just baffles me that that can be fun for some people. Strangely enough, I have a friend that never plays "Perfect Dark" on his N64 without cheats being on. The odd thing is that he plays it frequently and doesn't seem to get tired of it. I suppose it just seems that Ares in particular would get extremely redundant if you played it with cheats on the tougher levels... but maybe that's just me.
