I'm looking for names for my two hard drives -- I kind of like the personalization it provides. I'd like the names to in some way pay respect to the jobs they are doing...

I have a 30 gig drive in my Powerbook. It's the first computer I've bought by my own rights, and it has served me since the beginning of my college career (a couple months ago), and will well into college.

Also, I have an 80 gig external firewire drive that is going to be almost exclusively for digital video and my editing pursuits.

I'm interested in something unique -- I never like to be part of the crowd.

How about "Opheilo" which is greek and means "to be bound", "to be in debt", or "to owe"

Somehow, this sounds fitting for a machine used in college...

How about"baros" which is also a greek word, this one representing a burden or more literally a "weight that which is heavy." Granted the external drive is probably small and light, but it is an extra thing to lug around, plus it is for work... hehe.

Or, how about "Spearus" which is a neo-greek word which might be indicative of the type of video that will be filling up the drive...

original maybe....I've got drives and partitions named Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Mars (I was tempted towards Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines).

How about twins from mythology... Castor and Pollux. Or binary stars.....say, what about Alcor and Mizar?

Typically, you would name drives or servers based upon what they are used for. If you are the only one using it, then I would just reccomend Drive 1 and Drive 2, or refering to them by their size.

If you share them with friends, classmates, or coworkers, then I would reccomend applying your first initial, last name, then the size of the drive.

However, as mentioned above if there is some spesific purpose for the drive, then that would be the best thing to call it. Such as "Glue's games" and "Glue's porn".
