    • Coldstone Jaguar Compatibility

Has the OS X version of Coldstone been tested for compatibilty with Jaguar (OS X 10.2)? If not, has the Classic version been tested in Jaguar under Classic? Tested by Ambrosia or by users?

Just checking. I don't want to be in the middle of a project an find that I can't complete it since I decided to upgrade my OS.

      Thanks in advance.
      Alex.

    • It has not been tested. But if it doesn't work, I Glenn and I will beat Dee Brown with a salami, and they will release a patch.

Good to know Coldstone has such a devoted userbase. <g>

oooh that's a good one, i'd assume it should still work, considering this would shine Apple in the light of BIllGates and his innumerable evils against baackwards compatibility. And make Beenox's skills look slouchy. if not a new version of RealBasic was released recently i'd hope they knew about ::attempting to coin a phrase:: Jags when they released it, and maybe the ColdStone engine could use a little trip to ye olde compiler. Give it a little flea bath.

    • I think they're still working the bugs out of Coldstone, and if there are problems with Jaguar, they will find them soon enough and fix them.

    • I have built the Medieval game under 10.2, it seems to have worked fine.

    • There does, however, seem to be a player-level problem with CGE and Jaguar. Ie, a person who is using Jaguar and is playing a game built with CGE will be unable to save their game in certain situations. This has been discovered under PoG in (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum61/HTML/001048.html#")this(/url) thread.

So yes, there are some quirks that need to be fixed/worked out.

Andrew states that this is apparently due to a bug in Jaguar's implementation of Navigation Services, rather than in Coldstone itself. Nonetheless, an update should be forthcoming Real Soon Now™...

Cafall(l), do you have your salami ready? 😄

    • I've had the same problem and that it crashes when you quit it in Jag.

Yeah, that's the other known Jaguar-specific issue with Coldstone. On the plus side, said crash (actually an "unexpectedly quit") doesn't seem to actually have any adverse affect.

/me still has his salami ready to bludgeon Dee about the lack of updates, but seems unable to find him at the moment.
