I'll add.
I'm Nathan Swartzendruber, 25, recently moved to Cincinnati, OH. BA in English Writing in '98, writing mostly poetry. Also write music, most often just lyrics, but I play a couple instruments. Fairly lately I've written a few articles for MacGamer.com. Have a concept for my own web site with quasi-Mac coverage, but I really need an html/php dood to help me out (ie build it). Right, we'll see how that goes. Hoping to get back to grad school next year, either MA or MFA in Creative Writing. Surprisingly busy for all that little seems to get accomplished. Ain't that the way.

That's C alifornia S tate U niversity L ong B each. (That was for the young 'uns in here who are acquainted with the college-talk yet) I want to major in .... you guessed it...music. Not married (come on, i'm in high school) but there is a girl i've been seeing for 2 years now that i'm hoping one day will say yes.....(wow, a little too sentimental for a webboard, i think) But seriously, that's who i am in a nutshell.

I apologise for dredging up an old thread, but I thought that this particular topic was a good idea for the board, and I think it should be continued, as our community here has evolved and changed a great deal since the end of November last year.
Anyway, just a bit of a personal update, as of next week I finally start University. I'm doing a Bachelor of Biotechnology course, with my first year subjects being Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Logic. Just for those who have known me here for a while. :0
Come on people, post a bit about yourselves and your lives here.... let's make this place more alive!

Hi, I'm brand new to the board... I discovered Coldstone through an advertisement and thought I'd give it a shot. It's got me hooked and I am now in the initial stages of designing a game.
My name is Brendan; I live in Santa Cruz, California, USA. I attend the University of California Santa Cruz where I am currently studying Computer Science and Engineering. My first year classes consist of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Literature. After this year I will move on to computer architecture, logic design, informaton systems management, and network security. Outside of academics, I train in the martial arts of Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, JuJitsu, and Wushu. I love to play games, specifically RPG or adventure games... my favorites being the Final Fantasy series and Lucas Arts adveture series' respectively. I'm a huge Monkey Island fan
I'll be posting my progress as I begin to produce my game... I will be needed all the criticism I can get

34 years old, married, animator and illustrator when I can find work (Flash, mostly). Tried working in the industry in L.A. but we didn't like each other. Now I mainly sit in front of my computer all day. Being married means not having to socialize, which is what I like about it.
Got into RPGs when I got a book called "Programming Adventure Games in BASIC", back when I had a Commodore 64 and they still published books on programming in BASIC for hobbyists. I still think the original "Legend of Zelda" was the best.
Live in Providence, RI, which is great for an old H.P. Lovecraft fan like myself. Am currently reading "Blue at the Mizzen", the last book in Patrick O'Brian's wonderful series of novels set in the Napoleonic era. I'm also going through "Advanced Lingo for Games" so I can finally get something out of Director, and am replaying "Deus Ex".
Like old ragtime and jazz tunes from the twenties; also Bossa Nova, latin music, irish folk, and the occasional classical piece.
Favorite graphics tool: Painter.

That's all. Carry on.

Hi,
I am Robert Jantzeko. I'm 16 and live in Plauen, Germany. Does anybody know the great "Plauner Spitze". I thought its known worldwide. I am currently doing my A-Level. In my freetime I build some useful programs and games using coldstone, RealBasic or C++. I'm also working for a webdesign company.

I got a full-ride scholarship not long ago...makes me happy, but I missed one that was worth even more...so I'm like the silver medalist that is happy, but cursing that he didn't get gold.

I am Paul Van Rompaye, Belgian,23, male, unemployed.
I studied graphic design but had to give up in the end.
I try to do some webdesign when people armed with torches and pitchforks don't try to stop me.
I like to drink and dance (people don't even take the time to look for pitchforks when they see me dance) and generally hang out with my buddies drunk & stoned and discussing ways to beat Jackass at stupidity. I used to spend a lot of my time in revalidation but after I dropped out of school I sit in my dreary hometown, all sad and lonely - let that be a warning kiddo's!
I work on TeamOrbits UT NeoCairo mod, and read anything I can get my hands on.

Hey, Ben! Nice to hear you got into University. Was admissions week stressful? Get a scholarship?
As for me, I just finished up my drama department's production of Comedy of Errors. It's been going pretty much non-stop for nearly two months now. It's end is bitter-sweet. I now have more time to mess around with Coldstone, write short stories, and plan Epitheisterra with Andiyar. However, I know I'll never see some of the friends I've made on it again. I'll miss them. I've just now started going back regularly to these forums. Other than that, I'm pretty much the same Celchu that I was back in November.

Hey, thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth...
My names Paul Voorheis and I'm a webmaster from Minneapolis, MN, USA.
I used to create games on my apple IIe with the adventure construction set... and was extremely happy to hear about coldstone. I'm hard at work on my first coldstone game... as soon as I get the whole drawing in 3d thing down it should be pretty cool... Here's the title screen pic: (url="http://"http://www.americanproaudio.net/mhpromo.jpg")http://www.americanp...net/mhpromo.jpg(/url)

University of Arkansas-Fayetteville...not particularly well known, not particularly prestigious, but it is definitely a nice choice when you get a full-ride. They do have an excellent honors program, and just in general have some very nice options.

Okay, why not?
I live in Vermont, help support computer systems for medical offices nationwide, am happily married, just turned 26, and am playing Baldurs Gate II.
I've been eagerly awaiting Coldstone:
Early Eighties: Adventure Construction Set
Late Eighties--Early Nineties: World Builder
Early Nineties-Mid-Nineties: Hypercard + TrueBasic
Mid-Nineties to late Nineties: RealBasic
And now I ponder-- to Coldstone, or not to Coldstone, that is the question... its fun, but after running through the tutorial I find the game/overall interface kind of annoying. I'm having trouble deciding.

Was -- I live in Seattle now..just leave the location, because I liked the place. Anyway, I lived across the state from her, in Tower City...it's 45 minutes west of Fargo. A lot of people recognize it for the pie at the cafe there...beats the hell out of me why, because I don't think it is THAT good.

Name's Alexander Wilson, if my username didn't give that away. Writer with a few fiction, nonfiction, and poetry sales. Singer/songwriter with an album on Amazon.com. Graduated with a BA in journalism/English december 99 from Ashland University in Ashland, OH. Since lived in the Cleveland, OH area, working as an editor and web guy for an international construction industry publisher. Married in July last year.
Used to program interactive fiction in BASIC when I could keep my used Commodore 64 from overheating for longer than 45 minutes at a stretch. It died before I could finish any major project. That was in fifth grade, and I didn't replace the POS until my second year at college, with a cheap PC. Been building, troubleshooting, and working on Wintel machines (with a few AMDs thrown in for good measure) since then.
I've been an investor and an interested party with Apple since I first started investing in 2000. I made the switch from Windows to Mac when I needed a laptop in the middle of 2001, and now this iBook running OS X is my main computer. I still keep one Windows machine around for my wife to use and for me to run Acid and a few other programs I haven't found Mac-equivalents for (or haven't been able to afford). But my time on Windows lessens all the time. Not a deliberate evolution, but I think any future computers in our home will be running OS X. Hoping to get a medium- to high-end tower sometime in the next year.
I wrote some interactive fiction in HTML while in college, and even did a bit of programming/multimedia creation with Flash and PASCAL, but my I never thought I'd get back into game design and creation until I saw the note about Coldstone on MacCentral back in January. I ordered the program almost immediately. I am not a regular gamer so, while I'm aware of many of the great games on the market, I'm not much of a customer and I don't have the background many of you have. I hadn't even heard of Ambrosia before reading the Coldstone news. But I have some unique ideas that I believe will be possible with Coldstone, if I can find the time.
At the same time I'm picking up Coldstone, I'm also learning Cocoa and some advanced techniques in Perl, Acid, Flash, Flash Actionscript, and Quicktime. This is on top of the day job, my own writing, my continued learning and appreciation of a new operating system, and my being a newlywed. So we'll see how much time I can give Coldstone.
My connection's not so good, so I doubt I'll post much here. But if there's ever a mailing list, I hope to become more involved.
Alex.
