    • I must have missed this the first time around. ^_^;;

I've got the good Irish name of Mike Sweeney (potato-famine Irish/Mayflower english background). I've still got the Boston accent but lived as much of my life as I could manage in sunny CA, last twenty-odd years in what we fondly call "The People's Republic of Berkeley."

I studied theater and music in college, dropped out, joined the Army to blow up things and jump out of planes, paid my dues as a white-collar worker and at last got back to the backstage work I love. Somewhere in those heady days of Shakespeare on the beach and experimental plays in "the city" I wrote a novel, a bunch of short fiction -- as yet only a couple of articles have seen the light of print -- and begun what has been an abiding interest in modern Japan.

When I started my present job as "master electrician" (chief fix-it for all things that plug in, and resident sometimes-designer at a small theater) the whole computer thing started to snowball on me. First it was composing and designing sound effects on computer. Then I discovered 3D. The computer grew and grew, sprawling over my desk, spawning broken mother-boards and extra hard drives to clutter shelves and floor, and demanding an increasing share of my attention.

I need to start designing my own game like I need a new head. I'm composing with one hand, designing for theater with another, still writing (and still trying to interest a publisher), and still trying to get a bit of computer art done here and there. Trouble is, I can't resist the creative challenge.

Oh...I listen to practically everything, and I mean Bengali street musicians to Maria Callas, J-pop to Al Hirt. My job means I get to listen to that kind of variety live as well, plus chat with the musicians. I read genre (SF, mystery) and history, plus the simpler science texts. I hardly have the time for movies and wish I didn't play games, but like to unwind over something like CivII or Warcraft.

    • Well everyone, I just finished my first day at University. Had four lectures today all up, two Biomedical Science ones and two Mathematics ones. Overall a fairly decent day, although I'm rather irritated at the Biomedical Science department at the moment, for screwing up the rest of my timetable with their tutorial and practical placement allocations. Basically, up until about 2.30pm I had a complete day off, which was good because I work on Tuesday evenings. Now, I have uni from 4.30pm until 8.30pm, and have been forced to give up one of my personal shifts at work. I've also had to give up a full day off. Grrrrr!

Add that to the fact that Tuesday's were just about my favourite shift to work....... ah well. I'm currently 'discussing' matters with the lecturer, which means that in about two weeks he'll say: "Sorry, nothing I can do." But such is life. :sigh:

    • Hi I'm Liz Allies, I'm married with four kids and just about to reach grandmother status so it's impolite to ask my age. I live in London, England, for my sins, and my hobbies are Macs, reading, reading, Macs, and computers. I do Apple Mac troubleshooting, and web design. I've been in computers since - well a long time ago, when I learnt Cobol, Algol, assembler, Fortran, and Basic. Now I mostly use java and asp. My husband and my two sons are also programmers.

Just at the moment I'm hopping mad because I ordered the Coldstone CD (together with the Ambrosia Games CD). It took two weeks to come, and when came, this morning, the Coldstone one wasn't in it, Grrrrr! Since I can just about draw a stick man if I concentrate very hard, the graphics on that CD are necessary before I can even get started on my Coldstone project which is called Forgotten Valley and is based (very loosely) on a game we used to play on an old Texas Instruments home computer. So far I have a startup screen and a story - and that's it.

I am 16(almost 17) and besides loathing school, I enjoy mountain biking, and backpacking/hiking. I'm just starting to get into welding and metal sculpture, but dont know how much welding I'll get done with CS out. I'm currently re-playing Deus Ex(for like the 4th time), and I listen to pretty buch anything but country, pop, rap, or hip hop.(with an emphasis on electronica)

    • 27, married with 2 children. I live in Iowa City, Ia and am part owner of a Honda motorcycle dealership. Been involved in computer games for a while, from the old Intellivision to Commodore's and Atari's. I've taken a few programming classes at the local University as a hobby and worked on several on-line muds including programming and administrating on the Dark-Sun motif ArmageddonMud. My time now is mostly spent on my family and work, although I'm also working on developing some plug-ins to POG to extend the storyline and game play.

I am married to the sea :rolleyes and am kindly begging for anyone to do graphics (preferably in the style of the awesome Legend of Mana) on my simple CS Game (seriously, email me at nyros@austin.rr.com) I enjoy Magic and Legend of the Five Rings (YOGO JUNZO FOREVER!!!)

I agree. We said no hard feelings, and we meant it. Nyros, when your game comes out I'll definitely give it a spin, and I'm sure it'll be great. Have fun, and good luck! 🙂

Thanks for the offer, alois, but I'll manage. I'm only doing maths because I received a mark one percent below the cutoff for me to have not done mathematics. So I'm stuck in a class full of people who can't do maths, twiddling my thumbs and trying to look interested. Mind you, I haven't been at the top of a Mathematics class for a while... but the novelty has worn off. 🙂

As for logic, it's not mathematicla logic, but philosophical logic. And I don't start that course until second semester (August) so I'll decide if I need help when i get there. 🙂

Oh yes, to those who read my rant about being very, very angry with the Biomedical staff of my University.... I take it back, Darryl (the lab manager) is a really nice guy, and he was more than willing to swap me into another practical class if there was a spot available. I checked and there was, so I'm able to both have my day off again, and still work my shift at work. 🙂

And thus passes another exciting episode in the personal life of....... Tarnćlion Andiyarus! 😉

    • Ok. This IS true, though everyone I tell doesn't believe me (That's why I'm posting this.)

My name is not in English
I am roughly 3,982 years old (It's been a while since I checked up on that. I lose count while I'm here.)
I am only 3/4 Human the other 1/4 is not in English (Neither is 'Human' but that's an English substitute)
I am a spy from another world, 5, to be exact (No, this has nothing to do with your 'solar system') This place we (The people and other species from where I come from) call '3'.
Your guns and nukes are primitive and unnessicary weapons next to our Swords, and of course Magic.

The inter-world senate will probably try and kill me for this, but I was the only person who would do this job after what happend to Atlantis, so I am still safe!

And you know me because... I don't remember anyone by those names on the interworld senate, although it IS possible, the senate is rather large and that room is extremely stuffy. What's your senate #? If you know me, you should know mine, since I'm one of the top commanding 19. I'm the primary for the humans of 5 and the secondary for the internal senate of 1. I don't care much about 3. You people killed the good heart of my instructor. As for killing me, I think not. My sword is ready. You have been warned.

    • You shall not have our Senate numbers. We operate in secret , mind you. It doesn't do to have potential rulers of the galaxy announce their identities to everyone, does it?

    • Ok. Fine. Be that way. I don't care. I'll just torture your ideals at the next senate meeting. I would not suggest anything to #1 if I were you. He's a very good friend of mine...

But of course. I'm not a member of your senate, nor of any species represented by your senate. If you really want to know more about the Nero'Kator and myself specifically, I suggest you try a Ancient History museum. It has been a very long time since any of us troubled ourselves with directly influencing your level of reality. Indeed, most of the Nero'Katora have already ascended from this level, back to Talent'ha Zylen.

As a matter of fact, none of us have acted openly since the end of the War of the Shing, during the second Interregnum. Atfter that crises was resolved, we decided to take a far less active role and have remained mainly observers in this universe, and within the seventeen other universes close in this particular level.

But I digress. It's rather pointless to debate it..... but if you don't know, there are actually three other emissaries of your council currently on Gaea. (Earth, if you prefer). One is present on the Asian continent, and the other two are in Europe. I'm not positive of what their missions are, but I'll find out if you wish. 🙂
